IntellifloXF Water Level in Basket

I replaced my Whisperflo single speed to an IntelliflowXF VSP pump. On my old pump after priming there would be just a couple air bubbles. On the XF at high or low speed the air bubble is much larger. The air bubble is the whole dome of the clear cover at the red arrow pictured. Is this expected?

I purged out all the air from the DE filter, made sure the pool water level was topped off, skimmers were clear and flappers held down by bricks just to rule that out.

If the pump is not losing prime I would not worry a lot about it.
