Intelliflow pump setting question

We have IntelliFlo pool control and variable speed pump.

It is setup that under pump I have 4 settings: Pool, spa, cleaner (in-floor) and Spillway

My question is this: Can I add a second "pool" setting with a higher RPM setting so that I can schedule the pool to run most of the day at a very low RPM but go up a bit for better skimming for a few hours a day?

It is best to set the POOL setting to the lowest pump speed that you wish but it should be high enough to operate the SWCG.
Not sure how long you run your pump daily, but this POOL setting should be set to cover that total pump run time.

Then any scheduled activity such as spa or Spillway will increase the pump speed for that scheduled duration, then the pump will go back down to the POOL setting speed when no other activity is scheduled.

You can then set a 5th speed for Skimming at any desired RPM and schedule that for any duration needed. Do not label it as POOL but as Skimming or whatever suits you.

Just ensure your POOL schedule covers the total time the pump should be on as that becomes the default speed when no other activity is scheduled.

The slowest speed that you should ever run is whatever speed closed the SWCG's flow switch plus 100 RPM. This is the speed you should use for the 'Pool' circuit.

Keep in mind that you can only assign one speed to each 'circuit', but you can add additional speeds using Feature Circuits.

Also, you want the 'Pool" circuit to be on the total time you what the pump to run.

As an example here is my speed list for ScreenLogic set up.

You can see that my pool circuit runs the pump at about 1200 RPM, then if I also turn on Skim Low or Skim High, the pump will increase speed. If I then shut off Skim Low or Skim High, the pump will go back to running at 1200 RPM. Both Skim High and Skim Low are Feature circuits.

When the pump sees two or more speed requests, it will always run the fastest one. This is why we suggest that your Pool Circuit be the lowest speed you ever want to run.

Not sure how I get to that screen - I don’t see it in my Screenlogic app. I can’t seem to find a way to add new circuits.

Are you using your PC or the Pentair app?

If the app, you need two of them. ScreenLogic and SLConfig.

When in SL config select 'Set up circuits'

The push the down arrow next to word 'Circuits' to select an unused Feature circuit

Then you can rename it if you want.

Leave the Circuit Function as 'Generic'.

@Jimrahbe I couldn't get the app to work and in fact somehow I messed up and my heat pump now says "solar".

What app on PC is used? I just installed a windows VM so I can run anything on win10 now. I tried pentair screen logic connect but can't seem to edit anything and Pentair's download section is from 1980s

@Jimrahbe Argghh.. So I managed to get a windows virtual machine running and managed to get the pentair screen logic configurator running, but now in this menu I've managed to somehow select these settings and there is no reset or delete so I can't put them back to normal. None of the "circuit function" settings seem like what I need.

I honestly swear this software was created back when we had to literally type www before opening a web page.

Am I even in the right spot? I still haven't found the place that I can edit my heat pump so it stops saying "solar" either.

Leave the Circuit Function set as Generic. It is just not needed.

All you need to do is select Feature 5.. Feature 5 is a Circuit all by itself. The Circuit Name is just what you call it, it will always be 'Feature 5' to the system. You can use a name from the circuit name drop down list or set up your own user name, or just use Feature 5. Do not screw with the Circuit function.

Add Feature 5 (or whatever you name it) to the pump set up page and assign the speed you want. Anytime the pump is running, and you turn on 'Feature 5' the pump will go to that speed.

Keep in mind that if the pump see two or more speeds at the same time, it will always run the fastest one. So if the pump is running at 1000 RPM and Feature 5 is set for 2000 the pump will increase in speed. If the pump is running at 2500 and you select Feature 5 (2000) nothing will happen.

Check out this page for the solar issue. Uncheck the box that says solar is a heat pump.
