Intelliflo3 VSF replacing 10yr old Intelliflo VS

Hello, new guy here, have been learning and reading a lot here for years, but now have come to the surface and out onto the pool deck!

As the heading states just replaced the 10yr old IF vs with a new IF3 VSF, my system runs through or is connected to my easy touch control panel. My questions are as follows,
1- there are three touch buttons on the panel on top of the pump, CONNECT shows magenta color, stating RS-485 com cable is connected to the easy touch automation panel, it is illuminated in that color.
2- ON/STOP button is illuminated in the yellow color, info sticker says priming idle?
3- QUICK CLEAN button not illuminated at this time.
Back story, the pool and all related equipment was installed and finished in Sept. of 2017, pool and cleaner, spa and slide have preform flawlessly for those years as I'm the one doing the routine maintenance of said system, I always cleaned the filter cartridges every fall, (this pool has not really seen a lot of action nor abuse by usage) garden hose and cleaning tool and doing them in the drive way, reinstall filters, place system back online and no problems, the pool also has a pool cover and I use a robo cleaner since day one, on second one now, after 3 rebuilds of the original one. This is a salt pool, forgot to mention that. So after almost 8yrs of filter pump running 7 days a week, 365, from 10pm to 6am, cleaner 2am to 6am, the intelliflo tapped out, yes I could've rebuilt it but... with some research and new tech out there I choose to go with the Intelliflo3 VSF pump.
So I take a day off work on Friday 3 days ago and start the replacement work, had to redo the suction side as well as the discharge side piping, all 2" pipe, did not rush this and gave it more than 24hrs for glue to set, while at the pool store the filter cartridges were on sale and thought WTH may as well replace them at this time since the "system" will be open, this would be a good time to do them.
So now its Sunday and time to put the system online and see how its going to work, primed the pump according to the destructions, this was around 6pm MST, schedule not changed as mentioned above, so I got about 4hrs b4 system "automation schedule" takes over, everything works as it should, until I checked it this AM, Connect button on pump is illuminated correct color, but the ON/STOP button is illuminated yellow telling me that the pump is at priming idle? And the water level in the cleaner basket is below the suction inlet? This is when the system is not running on its schedule time, as I was checking thing out, I can hear it gurgling water in the strainer pot? I made sure that the lid is on correct and that the O-ring is not pinched, the valves are in the same place as they have been for the past 8yrs, I put them back in there original position after priming pump as per install directions? When I would clean the strainer pot basket on the old pump, fill with water and restart the system, I could go out later and that strainer pot would have water all the way to the top of the clear lid for the strainer pot? What the heck!?

I have no leaks anywhere, the mechanical room floor is bone dry, at first fire up I did not hear any suction noise nor was there any leaks, I have done a check of the surrounding area around pool and spa for any signs of a water leak, hard to tell at this time as all that piping is under ground and covered with concrete, see avatar photo.
So is this "normal" with this pump, strainer pot not staying completely full? I also did a check of my salt level and was surprised that I'm about 400 to 500lbs low on salt, so I wanted to run the pump so I could add my salt while its moving water, this is when I noticed water level in strainer pot was below suction pipe and the ON/STOP button on pump was illuminated yellow telling me that prime is at idle. So can I push the filter F button on the easy touch to start the pump? Don't want to ruin a top dollar pump, when I might have a problem some where else, the easy touch system says everything is "normal" no alarms, only that I'm low on salt, salt cell confirms this as well.
I'm going out now to take pics now and try and figure out how to upload them here.
Thanks for any help or suggestions, I know this is long winded, but the more info one is armed with the better!! Thanks again!

Dew,

Tell me what the EasyTouch shows under pump 'Type'.

Show me your Schedules and pump Speeds that you have set up.

If you have your Pool Circuit scheduled from 10 pm until 6 am and you manually turn the pump on, depending on when it happens, it can confuse the EasyTouch and you will have to wait until the next normal start time.. (Or you can push the reset button on the main panel..)

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hello Jim, thanks for the reply, I'll have to go back out and take a photo for you, but I believe I went into menu> intelliflo > and it had like 3 choices, I selected the VSF, but could be doing something wrong there?!?
Schedules SMTWTFS 10pm to 6am with the cleaner from 2am to 6am, but I did not know about pump speed.

I might push the reset button on the easy touch panel as I have not ever done this in its 8yrs of continuous operation, and introducing a new electrical component to the older system couldn't hurt, and not knowing where my pump speed is set at could have a negative effect on it!

Thanks again,
Joe

Jim,

I did chose the VSF type for pump, pump(s) speed had been set up by the pool builder when the pool was installed, I also have 2 pumps, so I don't know how he labeled the pumps as in pump#1 pump#2 as far as the screen on the easy touch is concerned, is pump #1 my whisperflo being used for the slide and the spa and pump # 2 my filter/cleaner pump? Looking at my set up on the concrete pad he may have pump#1 as the whisperflo and the filter/cleaner pump as pump#2 see the photo for my pad set-up, I would think that pump#1 would be the filter/cleaner pump and pump#2 being the spa/slide pump as it would be secondary in the scheme of things?

I just pushed the reset button on the easy touch panel and have not monkeyed with anything else yet, going to wait till 10pm and see if it does as it is scheduled to run. I will report back findings after work tomorrow.

Joe,

My point was the the original pump type was VS.. And since it was working someone had to have assigned the circuit speeds..

If you went in and changed VS to VSF, it will erase all the speed that were originally programmed.

Your main pump is almost always Pump #1..

Each pump will have its own Pump Type..

Without a speed assigned to the Pool Circuit, a VS or VSF pump will never run.

Thanks,

Jim R.
