Intelliflo3 VSF 3hp - Brand New and LOUD!

I only seem to get pressure at my filter if I’m running around 50 gpm
Amy,

My normal filter pressure is about 1 lb. Filter pressure is a bad thing, and not a good thing. The pressure you see on the filter gauge is really the amount of effort it takes to 'force' the water through your filter and all the plumbing and back to the pool.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I would use RPM and not GPM.

You really do not need very much flow with only one skimmer and no heater.

Just enough to activate the SWG flow switch plus a little extra for margin.

The fan on these pumps is the worst sound offender.

In my opinion, the pumps should have a top speed of 2,400 RPM and a bigger impeller.

My filter doesn’t register pressure at 1000 rpm either but we figured out there is still flow out of returns and it works fine. It’s a large filter …

just be sure that when you look at your filter pressure change you always use the same rpm - i do it when I’m vacuuming so i have the same rpm baseline

Eg at 2700 rpm im at 10 psi so that’s my baseline for my setup

How many skimmers do you have?

Do you have a main drain?

If yes, turn it mostly off with the valve mostly closed.

Do you have a heater?

Is the equipment pad above, below or at the same elevation as the pool?

If no heater, you should not need more than about 15 to 20 gpm.
This is an incredibly basic very old pool. One skimmer, two returns, plumbing level with pool. Nothing else other than the newly added IC-60.
