Intelliflo Leaking out Bottom - Pool Pump

Yes. I contacted the online company and they gave me a refund so thank goodness for that, so I went ahead and ordered the part again. I will definitely follow up with the shipping company. I don't know why I didn't do that. They should be aware they delivered an empty envelope.

I will call Pentair tomorrow and update. I appreciate all the advice about checking and replacing the shaft seal. I'm really hoping that when I do replace the seal that it fixes the problem. I'm really learning a lot about pool maintenance and care for sure.

I’m back! I am still going back and forth with the PB and PentAir. In the meantime, I took apart the pump and finally got the impeller off. I needed a second pair of hands for that one. There has been water in there. Should I take it apart further? If so, what do I look for to replace?

Also, I do have the shaft seal replacement and I understand I am not to touch the new seal without using gloves so I haven’t replaced it yet.

So, I went to do the shaft seal replacement today and realized that the new part and the old part do not look the same. I rechecked my manual, the manual off the site I bought from and both breakout sheets. They all had the part that I purchased. I called Pentair tech support and apparently they changed the impeller setup with shaft seal last year. I told them my model number and told them I went off the manual that came in the box. They said that was weird because I need the new, updated part number. They gave me the part number I need plus a new manual to download. The part looks to match from the image. Sooooo....still no pump for us.

Also, Pentair is now arguing with the PB on the pump warranty. I'm not sure it matters any more since I took the pump apart and most likely have voided the warranty at this point. The saga continues...

Finally got the right part. Replaced shaft seal.

Guess what? I got prime in 20 seconds! I thought this was an improvement. I did bring a hose into the garage and filled the pump basket out towards the pipe and then slapped the trap on and turned on the pump. The pool was also a bit overfilled with all the rain (water is 3/4 of the way up the skimmer) so maybe this is the way to go to get a quick prime.

Pump is still leaking. I am suspecting the large main gasket. I haven't been able to find a replacement because mine is a square o-ring and the manual part is not. Calling tech support again today and will try to swap this out. When I changed the shaft seal I noticed that it was loose so I'm hoping this is the issue. I lubed it again but it is definitely hanging out on one side. Otherwise, I have no idea where the leak is coming from.

Hi angfiggy

Thank you for updating your situation. Just found out my Intelliflo is leaking from the bottom. My pump just turned 10 years old.
The hint about the model/part number is excellent. TY.

I share your difficulty in believing that the pump was run dry is cause for your issue. This is because the Intelliflo automatically shuts off when it can't prime.

good luck.
