All the sudden 5 days ago I got this message on my Pentair-Home app, "communication error has been detected between your IntelliConnect and your intelliFlo. This may be because:
1) The communication cable is not installed properly per instruction manual. Ensure that the green and yellow communication wires in the low voltage side of the IntelliConnect control panel are not damaged and are properly connected.
2)The IntelliFlo does not have power
I checked all cables, and everything seems to be good (no changes from a few days ago). I am not sure why all the sudden this happened. My chlorine output is at "0" and cannot change it from the app or the equipment. when i try to increase from the ichlor-30 system manually, nothing happens when I press the "more" button.
I have been adding liquid chlorine so far and I scheduled a service person to come look at this, but any insight? has anyone have this happened?

UPDATE: I got it to work in the app!! apparently, it was disconnected... I feel so happy that it was that but at the same time so silly to not realized it for so long! now the only issue is that can only change the chlorine output from the app and not from the system itself. is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

A,

When the pump is not running, the IntelliConnect sets the cell's output to zero.

What does the Display on the IntelliFlo show? Does it show "Display Not Active" or does it show an RPM Screen?

Disconnect the cable from the pump and use the pump's display to find the F/W version in your pump. If 3.03 or 3.04 it will need to be upgraded by Pentair.

Menu, Settings, Devices, F/W version

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you for the response! I don't know if I am responding this right based on your answered but the intelliFlo shows RPM, the pump is working and still follows the set schedule. I dont need to manually turn it on or off, its just set daily to run. What I am having issues is with the intellichlor, I can not manually change it. and the app is not working because apparently there is a communication error.
I am not sure if I know how to disconnect the cable from the pump. I am new at all this. lol.
Thank you again for the help!

A,

The IntelliFlo pump is normally controlled by a communications cable attached to your automation (IntelliConnect). When the automation is controlling the pump, the Display will show "Display Not Active".. Normally there are no schedules inside the pump when you have an automation system, so now I am puzzled...

Your automation is saying it lost communications with the pump, this should shut the pump off. The automation thinks the pump is off and I believe that is why you can't adjust your salt cell..

Just to make sure we are both on the same page, I need some pics.. Show me a couple of pics of the pump, so I can see if you have a com cable or not. Show me pics of the IntelliConnect showing the wiring to the RS-485 com port.. Should be in the bottom left of the case, to the left of the door to the relays.

Also.. Please use the Menu button on the pump and find the current Firmware version..

Menu, Settings, Device, then F/W version. Please let me known what it is..

Thanks,

Jim R.

So i figure it out, it was disconnected! not sure how that happened but just realized it. now I can change the chlorine output from the app, but not from the ichlor itself. when i push "more" on the screen of the ichlor, nothing happens. I can change it from the app though. is this normal?

I have a 2.11 VSF firmware version.

thank you again!!

A,

Glad you found it.. That cable can't just fall off on its own.. Do you use a pool service???

When the automation is in control, you can't use the up / down buttons on the cell.

With the cable is attached, does the display show "Display Not active"?

Thanks,

Jim R.

No pool service, I do it myself, so it probably was me when I was cleaning the filter... lol
yes, it does say "not active" is this why cant be changed manually? is there a way to be able to do it manually and also from the app? or is it one or the other only option.

Thank you so much for all your time and help!

With the Intelliconnect, to manually change your pump speed or output settings on your iChlor, you need to put the Intelliconnect in Service Mode. Open up the box, push the button marked "MODE" once to switch from Auto to Service, and you should be able to make adjustments. When you are done, hit MODE twice to switch back to Auto, and you will only be able to control everything from the Pentair Home app again.
