I purchased the IntelliPro VSF 3hp. Which has been great. I then added the I/o relay board hoping to control my pool and landscape lights. But I don’t understand how this is supposed to work. Or if it’s even possible.

Both my pool light and landscape lights are 12v powered by a transformer.

Can I control them via the pumps relay board? Or even power them?

I’m not sure what I would connect to and can’t find much help.

Welcome to TFP.

You can control your landscape light transformer through either relay as long as the transformer is less than 500 watts. If over 500W then you can only use the high current relay.

The lights need to be powered independently of the pump.

Run 120V black hot line from a 120V GFCI CB to Supply L1.

Connect one leg of the light transformer 120V in to Device L1.

Run the other leg of the light transformer to the CB panel neutral bar.

Wire the low voltage lights to the transformer.

so the I/O relay cannot control the 12v devices after the transformer? (Two separate outputs). That’s a bummer.

I have one 300watt transformer that powers the landscape lights and the pool light. I was hoping to control them independently via the relay options in the app.

But if I understand correctly, the pump can control the hot leg to the transformer so I would need to have separate transformers.

I don’t know how happy the transformer will be powered 24/7 with no load on it most of the time.

Yeah, you can try running the 12V lines to the lights through the relays. It is non standard but should work.

Are they white lights or color changing LED lights?

The pool is a color changing led.
I’ll try it and report back.
With the lights on different relays you cannot synch colors between the lights.

Will you also have a switch to toggle power at the transformer?

And you will need to see if the app control of the relays lets you cycle the power rapidly enough for the colors to change.
