Appreciate thread and had similar problem as on this thread. Please REALLY look at the fuse holder and the spade wire connectors in the power supply housing. After tracing the cell related circuits, I found an intermittent connection at the fuse spade connectors and inside the fuse housing courtesy of some oxidation and apparent arcing. The green LED would light dimly even if not enough current to drive the cell which complicated troubleshooting. I installed new fuse housing, fuse and replaced spade connectors - all Amazon items for about $15 and cell working great now. Worth a look.
Was your fuse like this one? Replaced the fuse and it blew after about a minute after the cell started to cycle.IMG_0991.jpeg

E,

You have a newer Power Center with a fuse on the Surge card.. The older Power Centers has an actual fuse holder mounted in the chassis.

Either way, when the fuse blows, with the salt cell disconnected, the Surge card is usually bad. But.. If the the fuse only blows when the salt cell is connected, it is almost always a bad cell..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks Jim. Unit is 2 years old. Ran it on 40%. Not worth the cost if they only last 2 years.

E,

The cell should have a two year warranty.. If it came in pool install with 3 pieces of equipment, it should be 3 years.

But you are correct, 2 years is unacceptable..

That said most cells last 5 to 7 years..

I have been through three cells, in my 3 pools... One lasted over 9 years, one about 8 years and one just over 7 years...

Not sure what happened to yours... :(

Lightning strike maybe or ???

I'd call Pentair, all they can do is say... they won't warranty it.. Better than doing nothing.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Opened a case with Pentair. Initial response was you bought it end of May 2022 and that’s over 2 years. They escalated so I’ll see if that does anything.

Without automation I would suggest looking at the Apex cells that fit in the IC space and uses the IC power center. A member installed one recently.
