Hello - quick question. Long story short but my pool guy installed the ichlor 30 instead of the intellichlor 40 like I originally asked. Anyway - after much discussion he finally agreed to install the intellichlor 40. In any case, with the ichlor, through the app, I could set the % in increaments of 1%. My understanding is that with intellichlor - it is in increments of 20%. However, I notice that in the app it still adjusts by 1% increments. I am wondering if I in fact can do the 1% increment or if I need to just set the app to 20% increments (i.e. 60%, 80%, 100%)….Thanks!

You are adjusting the IntelliChlor through your EasyTouch and can make % adjustments in 1% increments.

Those who are using an IntelliChlor without any Pentair automation are limited to 20% increments.

You are fine.

The intelliChlor is much more robust then the iChlor.

Thanks! Yes - I was pretty upset when they installed the ichlor. I was going to let it go however when the temp was around 100 outside, the ichlor could barely keep up. I live in TX so the weather can go north of 100 during July, august and September so I was worried that it wouldn’t be able to keep up in those months. The intellichlor produces about more chlorine per hour so just a better unit for me. Thanks!

Hi! Ok - my former pool person (still use to install equipment) tried to pull a fast one on me and installed a ichlor 30 instead of the intellichlor 40 that I ordered. Anyway - after much discussion he installed the intellichlor 40 :) A couple of quick questions:
1. I am testing my salt with the Taylor salt kit recommended. I do notice that the Talor kit usually reads 200-300 lower than the cell. I understand that the salt cells are not reliable source of testing, so not worried about it as I will use the Taylor kit - but just curious if this is kind of everyone else's experience. Fore example - my cell is reading 3050 ppm of salt - but my test indicates 2800 ppm of salt.
2. How much reduced capacity would 2800 ppm produce versus the recommended 3600 ppm (for the intellichlor 40)? What I am getting at is whether I should add salt until I am at the recommended 3600 or does it make that huge of a difference?
3. I did add a bag of salt. Forgot to take my Taylor measurement before adding, but I know the salt reading on the cell has not changed....how long does it take for the salt to register in the pool?

Thanks!

Yes, very common.

How much reduced capacity would 2800 ppm produce versus the recommended 3600 ppm
None. As long as there's enough water movement to keep the flow switch open, it's producing the same amount of chlorine.

how long does it take for the salt to register in the pool?
About 24 hrs.

Close enough. If the cell is happy, you are happy.
How much reduced capacity would 2800 ppm produce versus the recommended 3600 ppm
None. Same generation.

No need to add salt.

One bag in 18000 gallons of water may not show much effect.

Thanks! I appreciate the responses. Ok - sounds like my salt is good enough. I will just monitor and add if it gets below the minimum recommended level. Thanks!
