Intellicenter - "Heat Boost"

Arghh

Hello,

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get a "heat boost" feature for my Spa. I have seen it listed in multiple Pentair documents, but cannot see how it works with the new(ish) Intellicenter.

Essentially I want to have a button I press that turns the heat on for a few minutes, to warm up the Hot Tub (Aka Heat Boost) and then turns off. The only way I know how to do it now, is to increase the temperate, wait a few minutes, then decrease it. There has to be a better way..

I have read a lot of Pentair documents and have no recollection of seeing a "heat boost" feature. I would love a reference to see where it is mentioned.

Note: The “HEAT BOOST” feature will switch on the heater for seven minutes to increase the spa water temperature.

Each time the spa Heat Boost button is pressed, the temperature will increase about 1° F.

The temperature will not go beyond the 104° F (40° C) limit.

Create a circuit and select "Heat Boost" from the menu of names.

Assign the circuit to a button on the controller.

I just went through this several time on the indoor control and right on the intellicenter control. I cannot create a feature circuit for Heat Boost as it is not an option. I can add it manually by typing the name, but it does nothing.

Has anyone seen it on the intellicenter options for feature?

A,

I know squat about the IntelliCenter, but on the EasyTouch, the only place that the circuit "Heat Boost" shows up is with under the Pentair Remotes. You can name a circuit anything you want, but that does not necessarily make it do the heat boost operation.

The IntelliCenter may be different, but I doubt it..

If you figure it out, please let us know..

Thanks,

Jim R.

A,

Keep in mind that the "Heat Boost" Circuit, was designed back in the day when you would have had some kind of Pentair Remote out by the spa..

I don't see anyway to add heat boost to your phone..

Let's see if Ron can chime in.. Calling @MyAZPool .. Can you make some kind of "group" that you could turn on with your phone or PC so that it would "think" the spa remote button for Heat Boost was pressed???

Thanks,

Jim R.

A,

Have you added "heat boost" to your ISR 4 spa controller page even though you do not have one???

I don't have a spa side remote, but my EasyTouch lets me select Heat Boost.. This circuit only shows up under the remotes..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim,
Like you, I can select Heat Boost from any of the iS4 button pull-downs. So it can be selected from the SETTINGS > REMOTES page, once the user has connected it (iS4) properly, assigned it's address (this should be done automatically but I don't have one, so not too sure). Selected Pump Control etc.

Since heat boost is not an AUX circuit and cannot be selected as a FEATURE CIRCUIT (I tried), I don't know of a way to include that feature in a macro.

So unless I have the Intellicenter wireless remote, just have to turn it on via my phone, then remember to turn it off. Was hoping to have a 1 button press to warm it up, so didn't have to dry my hands off again minutes later. Seems odd they didn't make it available on the phone..

Hmmm...... Maybe I'm missing something. I don't seem to have a need for the heat boost feature. When I activate my Spa CIRCUIT GROUP (macro), all kinds of things happen in that macro to make the Spa usable, but when the heater kicks on, it stays activated until it reaches the 104 degrees "Heat Set Point: that I have set in the POOLS > SPA, Heat Set Temp +/- feature.

I guess that if you want it a bit warmer, just increase the Heat Set Point.

The IntelliCenter will maintain that temperature by cycling the heater on/off through the connected "Fireman's Switch. Assuming you have a standard gas heater, it should work this way for you.

No equipment is listed in your signature, so I can't say for sure as to what kind of heater you have.

A,
Here's how we use the spa. We turn it on with the phone app and set it to 93 deg. While in the spa we use our phones to increase it to 98 or 99. Then we usually turn on the booster. When the temp drops the heater turns back on to maintain temperature. When we get out we turn the spa off. The heater won't come back on until spa mode is selected. If I get out of the spa and forget to turn it off the egg timer is set to turn the heater off in 4 hr. So if you're trying to ensure the heater couldn't accidentally stay on all night you can set the egg timer on the spa to an hour or two only. You can set it all the way down to 1 minute minimum if you want to. Is this what you are trying to accomplish?

Hey, yes I set it at 98 and it turns the heat on as required. But on these cold nights sometimes I just want to give it a bit more heat. Clearly can just raise it one degree, but liked being at a friend's and having a one button push just to warm it up a touch.

Not a deal breaker, just think in the newest tech, you have more features then my friends 10 year old system.

A.,
I gotcha.... The easiest "work-around" that I can think of is to just open the app on your phone and login. Navigate to Pool(s) and set your heat temp set point a bit higher for a few minutes and then back it off to your preferred spa comfort temp. ;)
