Intellicenter groups

If you call PolyTec Pools, I'm told that they will bundle the IntelliChlor with an i8 or i10 P or PS IntelliCenter models. They have done it in the past but not sure about now.
Just talked to PolyTec and, for the most part, they're not particularly helpful at this time and seem to make a point of discouraging DIY builds. I asked about the i8 and was told I would have to put together what was needed myself. Asked about CBs for Intellicenter and was told installer would supply them. Had to press to get a part number so I could look it up on their web site for price. Same for actuators. Don't know if it's totally because of covid-caused staff shortage and/or Pentair policy change since Jan. Warranty is only 60 days if DIY.

I bought an I8PSIC60 bundle from Polytec
But I was looking for a Pool only version - and that seems to be only ala carte with no help from Polytec. ?

I had previously installed a Circupool RS 30+. Works great with the Intellicenter... just have to manually adjust % at the unit.

Again, you're talking about the PS units for pool & spa - I'm talking about P units for Pool only. Yes, I know that I could use a PS, but I'm in the research phase and seeing what's available.

Polytec is not a retail store like Best Buy. You have to know what want. They don’t provide advice or tech support. You have to sound like you know what you are doing even if you don’t. They are helpful in product questions like can I use an Aqualink spa switch on the IntelliCenter? (No).

I never talk to sales at Best Buy 'cause I usually know more about what I want to buy than they do. :D Saw a number of posts saying the Polytec staff was very helpful to others. I pretty much knew what I wanted, but didn't get much info with my product questions. So just wasn't expecting what I experienced. The negativity towards DIY bothered me. The limited warranty bothers me. I'll figure it out.

They never asked and I never mentioned it may be a DIY. For what you save with DIY you can buy a new system. The warranty has little value.

I may hire a local electrician to work with me which will qualify it as a professional install. Still a lot less then pool store prices.

They were very helpful to me but as Allen said it was not really at a product TS level. Spent a fair amount of time pricing various bundles they offer and pricing on several options. They did tell me they don't really have detailed technical information but I wasn't expecting that. Pentair TS has been great to work with. Maybe their product sales people can help you find a bundle number then you can order it.

Good luck,

Chris

I guess I was just frustrated last night. I'd sent an email listing 2 groups of specific equipment that I was interested in and asked about where were things like CBs on the site. Expected a reply with prices and possibly notes if there were multi-piece bundle deals. Instead got an email saying that they recommended the Pentair package and to call. I did, but basically they just referred me back to looking up everything on their website. Just going to chalk it up as a bad hair day and forget it now.

Rereading IntelliCenter Installation manual and found QuickTouch II under Remotes Setup in Advanced System Configuration. At least I know its supposed to be an option now. (y)

Are any of the older systems (IntelliTouch, etc) close enough to IntelliCenter that installation/setup concepts would be worthwhile viewing/reading as background for an IntelliCenter Installation? Might trigger thoughts about needs for other valves/relays for me.

Related: Are Jandy activators compatible with IntelliCenter? Have an unused one from when I bought my solar stuff a few years ago. 2 of my 3 activators are simple port A or Port B and don't need the full IntelliValve variable range functionality.

Yes, all actuators are plug compatible with each other. They are basically identical in connection and function.

Yes, I used several existing Jandy, Intermatic, and one Hayward with the Intellicenter. I believe I had to reverse the rotation on the Hayward actuator but that's and easy flip of the toggle switch. Even the connectors worked.
