Does anyone know if Pentair is still intending to update their firmware to version 2.x or are we stuck with 1.064 forever? I have stayed on 2.017 for 18 months now but it still has some bugs and I am trying to decide whether to roll back to 1.064 or wait in hope of an update. Moving to 2.017 was a bit hairy as it swapped around some of my slave panels. This was made worse by the fact that I link into Control4 home automation. I suspect rolling back will be equally complex. That said if there is going to be a new version of 2.x anytime soon then I won’t bother rolling back but rather wait.

No one knows or can say.

1.064 had many problems. I am running 2.017.

Moving back to 1.064 is trading known quirks for a new set of problems. I would stay put.

Eventually Pentair has to release an update. We can only hope it works well.

I see 2.026 is out
Thanks for the point out. I look forward to hearing members experiences until my system gets running in April.

Key feature updates are:
  • The solar relay output can now be repurposed to support heat pump operation
  • Heat/cool heat pump now supports a maximum temperature of 104 degrees
  • IntelliChlor® and iChlor® Salt Chlorine Generators now support the “Super Chlorinate” feature
  • Globe icon confirms connectivity to the internet
  • The Pentair fish icon indicates connectivity to the Pentair AWS® backend
  • Significant bug fixes in Logic and schedules, Freeze protection, Pool cover, Heaters, Pumps, Sanitizers, Lights, Setup wizard, Security, OTA, Login.

Unfortunately, a typical Pentair firmware update. Lots of bug fixes. But some new bugs created!

Probably a really good update for users with a relatively small system (no expansion panels - maybe even one expansion panel is good).

Main issues that I have found so far:

1. Upgrading with multiple expansion panels causes chaos but turning off all panels and then turning them back on in order fixes this.
2. If the last Auxillary circuit on the second expansion panel is a lighting (Intellibrite - maybe other lighting circuits also) then turning the circuit off turns off the pool pump also - pretty crazy! Work arounds are pretty easy but don’t deal with heating (unless you use an external system for the work round).
3. I lost the integration of two circuits with Control4 when I did the update but these were relatively easy to fix.

All that said, a 10 minute update took me 5 hours…

Most bugs that I have posted previously seem to be fixed.

I will post more detail later once I have done a complete (long term) test of the system.

So… after a very frustrating day, I have rolled back to 2.017 and am considering rolling all the way back to 1.064 and giving up on any 2.xxx firmware.

2.026 fixed lots of bugs in 2.017; however, it simply doesn’t handle lots of lights across 3 panels properly and I couldn’t find a work around!

Very disappointing given that this release took a year and half to come out…

Your three panels and 19 lights are more than I have heard anyone else here have in IntelliCenter complexity.

Have you been in contact with Pentair Support about the complexities of your setup?

I am curious about your light setup and what the problems are if you have time to explain.

I was in touch with them a year or two back and gave them quite a bit of feedback on the issues I was seeing (that was probably on version 2.006).

My issues on 2.026 are two fold:
1. A couple of lights in a lighting group don’t change to the correct colour - this has been a problem in all of 2.xxx and I program around this from within Control4 so not a major issue.
2. In 2.026, some lights simply don’t turn off even when they show as off in the app / on the board. I think this is limited to light attached to expansion panels (and is probably linked to the number of lights or the number of expansion panels). Fortunately rolling back to 2.017 fixes this although it introduces numerous other 2.017 bugs which appear to have been fixed in 2.026.

Lights should turn on and off through a high voltage relay that powers the light circuit transformer. Is that a light problem or a high voltage relay in an expansion panel control problem?

It appears that in 2.026 the relay is not triggered for the last few lights in certain large groups of lights. The problem is that this means that lights don’t switch off even when the All Off command is executed.

2.017 has a much less serious version of the same problem where the last light in certain lighting groups (lighting groups where one of the lights is on expansion panel 2) would miss one trigger when turning on so would end up a colour short. This was easy to programmatically work around. They would always turn off properly though.

Fortunately for me, rolling back returned me to where I was 24 hours ago…

Now I am beginning to understand the problem is with a Light Group and the ALL OFF command.

Interesting system bug.

I would bet that Pentair does not have a test rig complex enough to duplicate your setup.
