Bumping this thread as it always seems to end...

Has there been a way using the pentair IntelliCenter Control System Pool Cover Expansion Card (P/N 522039Z) to monitor the covers position if it's not a coverstar cover? I have an integra cover on my fiberglass leisure pool.
Would be nice to shunt fountain and waterfall operation and lower salt Gen output while cover is closed.

Easiest way would just be a magnetic reed sensor to relay to the intellicenter that the cover is "open" or in a fully unclosed position.
The released version of the manual shows for a digital encoder to be setup on the non motor end. Can I get one to use on the integra? As it also shows that the analogue inputs are "not used"... Which presumably would be needed for a simple reed switch. Not sure if they are defeated or just not used with encoder wiring.

Any help would be awesome.
I program automation subsystems for a living, So I should be able to figure it out.

Thanks in advance.

This is the way Ive seen it done in at least one instance. The customer has a water feature. The cover triggers a switch and that switch closes the relay circuit for the water feature pump. But I have no idea what the standard is. I can’t think of ways how the expansion board would help. But if I was to create my own controller it would be designed similar to how an actuator circuit works but for the cover.

Yeah, it's actually pretty easy to do with outboard relays. But we shouldn't have to jump through hoops if we are using a controller. Much less cumbersome using logic instead of manual circuit breaking.
The intelligence is there, we just need an input to trigger...

The IntelliCenter has an optional Pool Cover Card that connects to an external switch telling it cover position.

Yes, and I've ordered it. But according to the literature it connects to a digital rotary encoder cover side and not just an open/close switch.

Open close switch would be great as I just need to know position, not run the cover.

What literature are you reading?
