Intelli Touch runaway clock

I cannot set the clock on the indoor Intelli Touch panel. When I set the clock, hit save, and go to the main screen, the time has changed. Also, the time on the main screen moves forward 2 minutes about every couple of seconds, so the time and day constantly changes, though the date stays the same. The chip in the lower right of the board is also very warm, bordering hot. Also, the lights for the yard that are set up through the controller will shut off on their own. Is the controller toast?

Welcome to TFP... A great resource for all your pool maintenance questions, whether your Port is New or not...

I have not heard of this particular problem before, so I have no direct experience, but I can't think of anything that would cause the clock to move forward 2 minutes in 2 seconds, but a failed clock circuit.

If this were my system, I'd be buying a new controller card.

Thank you, I turned the outdoor panel switch to "service" to keep the equipment from running last night, and when I put it on "auto" the Intel Touch panel became active, and the clock as stayed with the correct date. I had also hit the "reset" button outside, but bottom line, the clock now stays correct.
