I bought a house last year, so this is the first season opening. I decided to install a new AquaRite S340 SWG. Before turning the SWG on, I followed the SLAM method using liquid chlorine. I got my water clear in about 4 days and passed the OCLT. The next day, I poured in 6 bags of salt and set the SWG to 65%, but the FC continued to drop. Salt level was at 2200 PPM, so I added more salt until getting it to the ideal 3200 PPM and increased the chlorination to 85%. I left the filter & SWG running overnight and my FC is still only at about 1. CYA is at 40 (I plan on bumping this up to 60 next) and pH is 7.2. I feel like after letting my SWG run for over 24 hours, that the FC should be a bit higher. Am I doing anything wrong, or do I just need to let it run longer?

Thanks!

Hey everybody, I bought the house last year, so this is my first season opening the pool. I converted to SWG and installed an AquaRite S340. Before turning the SWG on, I followed the SLAM method using liquid chlorine to clear up my pool in about 4 days. After that, I added 6 bags of salt and set the SWG to 65%. I noticed that the salt level was only at 2200 ppm, so I slowly added salt to bring it up to the ideal 3200 ppm. The FC was still low so I increased the chlorination to 85% and let the filter and SWG run for 24 hours. After this the FC is still only at 1. Am I doing something wrong, or should I just let it keep running? My CYA is 40 (I plan on increasing this to about 60 next) and my pH is 7.2.

edit: pool is 24,000 gal

p.s. thank you to this community as I would not have been able to open without it. Also sorry for the double post, I thought my original never made it!

Thanks!

SWCG is good for maintaining FC, not so good at raising. Use liquid chlorine to raise to target and dial in % output to maintain.
