INSTALLATION AND PHOTO THREAD!!!!

Y’all…..I’m a dummy!! I overfilled the pool by about 2-3 inches! 😩😭 Dropping the submersible pump in now to drop the water level. Lots of rain expected this weekend. How far should I drain it? Half-way in the skimmer? More? It’s at the top of it right now and splashing out (I took the lid off and letting it do it’s thing lol.)
Sorry….haven’t had a pool to care for since 2020, so go easy on me hahaha! My punishment shall be my water bill lol

You're darned if you do/don't with the rain. Half way up the skimmer will be fine and if you get an inch it's not the end of the world.
I literally drained TOO MUCH!!!! Ahhhhhh! It’s going to rain so I’m just letting it do it’s thing and I’m checking on it periodically. I can’t get it right hahaha! This liner makes it a lot more difficult to tell where the water level is. I never thought I would miss those ugly Intex squares lol they were helpful! 🤣

On the chlorine, I did my first dose of chlorine using a left over jug from last summer. Worked just fine. As for the stabilizer, I used powder and could not get it to really increase, took a while to raise any at all. I pulled the sock out and poured in a appropriately dosed pool opener liquid. Next morning and I was right at target level.

Oh wow. Very interesting about the stabilizer! I used my dry stabilizer from late 2020 via the sock method today and was going to test my CYA in a few days (or should I wait longer?)
You’re the first one to mention stabilizer possibly decreasing in potency. I’ll let you know what my results are when I test my CYA. I really hope it’s still good because bleach is expensive right now lol

Oh and what is this “pool opener liquid” you speak of? Is it just liquid stabilizer?

Can you use the pool pump to waste Instead of dealing with a submersible pump?
Too late lol submersible pump was actually more convenient since we could drain the water out in the woods behind the pool and not deal with a swamp around the pool lol. And I’m not sure how to drain to waste with a cartridge filter? When I had sand, I always did it that way when the water level got too high. Probably the only thing I miss about sand lol

Yes, liquid stabilizer. It was with the opening chemicals in store. I used this:

The longevity of the stabilizer should be fairly stable. I was getting frustrated with how long it was taking to dissolve the sock full. Took a week to get to 20 on cya, the liquid got me to 60 over night.

Surprisingly, I tested my CYA yesterday (I did the sock method on Thursday), and it’s already showing up as 40!! That was quick lol. Maybe it’s different for everyone? I’ve never tried the liquid stabilizer.
EDIT: and I do not use any stabilized chlorine — only bleach!
