Hey y’all! Sorry I’ve been MIA. If you are new or don’t remember me, I was supposed to have my brand new above ground pool (see signature) installed last summer but due to unforeseen circumstances, it did not happen. Installation was scheduled for Monday, August 8th, but because of some bad weather approaching (boooooo), it’s getting installed TOMORROW!!!!! 🤯😳🥳🥳🥳🥳

I’m definitely not prepared, but I sure am excited and will be updating y’all and showing you the finished product! Deck is coming this fall so it won’t look very impressive but I’m gonna have a pool again!!!!! No more living vicariously through my mother-in-law with her massive fiberglass pool lol! I have also been teaching her the TFP method and she just ordered her TF-100 test kit with the salt testing also (I don’t know how to test salt since I do not have it lol.) Ordering my chemicals today and already got my brand new refill reagents from TFTestkits and threw away my expired reagents from 2020 lol. Yay!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂

Which leads me to my next questions regarding “old” pool stuff — Will my stabilizer (granules….not the liquid kind or chlorine pucks) from 2020 still be useable, or do I need to buy a new batch? Obviously, I know liquid chlorine loses its strength (even though I have a bunch from last summer that has been stored in my kitchen cabinet at room temperature for over a year.)
Is the LC still useable too? It is 8% from Kroger. I know it won’t be as strong, but I’m not letting it go to waste if I don’t have to. I will still be buying new bottles from Ace Hardware and Menards with a higher strength. Thanks everyone!

EDIT: Here is a stock photo of my new pool from ThePoolFactory’s website. I’ll obviously take lots of new pics once it is up! LOL! A8057A77-148A-463A-901C-DE7601DA8F40.jpeg

Chlorine degrades, the rest of the chems are good for ages. Baking soda for example, even if it gets bricked from moisture, cannot break down into anything else. Bust up the brick and you're good to go.

CYA / stabilizer is particularly, um, stable. :ROFLMAO:

Use up the bleach and test after mixing to see how much it helped. Correct again if needed. (y)

Oh I doubt the baking soda will be needed lol my fill water has CRAZY high alkalinity and it took me several weeks and lots of acid last time I had a pool to get it and keep it within TFP range, lol. Thank you for the info though! Will be interesting to test out the older bleach. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t damage anything. I’ll still be buying lots of new liquid chlorine! 😁

Btw - Muriatic acid doesn’t really degrade either - even though the bottle might.
Dry acid should be ok too if it was kept dry.
I have dry acid (I’m scared of MA lol) that has been stored inside since 2020 and I’m ordering a 25 lb bucket of it today since my fill water has super high alkalinity.

I’m having 4000 gallons of water delivered via truck and the remaining 3,500 gallons will be fill water from my hose with the 300 (not a typo) alkalinity lol. Hopefully the delivered water will be within somewhat “normal” TA range so it doesn’t take me weeks to get it right. Needless to say, the pH of my fill water is also off the charts so I want to get the TA under control early so I don’t have to add so much acid and daily aeration lol

Still working on the groundwork. Sand still in the truck so I’m not sure when that will begin — I assume soon?? I couldn’t sneak a good pic because they’re right in the middle of the circle, so I tried to get one from behind my back door but the stoopid deck (and upside-down kiddie pool) is in the way haha. Nothing exciting anyways, just showing y’all where they’re at currently. Will take more pics throughout the day and post them for sure! Just don’t judge my lawn please lol it looks horrendous but grass will be cut and weeds removed after they are done. Anyways, I’m ready for the fun to begin…. 🥳8B5B17FE-7500-461E-AE2D-16835572260D.jpeg

It’s over 90 degrees out. I feel bad for these guys LOL! And the dogs are also going crazy because they’re so cooped up. I wonder how long this is going to take? My yard is a massive pain in the you-know-what.
