Hi all,
looking for options for a inground pool light. I currently have a hayward light, it works and is wiring through a gfci outlet. If I trip the gfi it shuts off the light. I believe its wired properly as this is my first year with this pool. My question is this, my wife wants to upgrade the light to a fancy colored light that can change colors. I was going to replace just the bulb, but would prefer to go 12v if it makes the light "safer". I have a junction box with plenty of room, and could install a transformer in it easily. Would I then be able to install a 12v bulb in the housing? Or would that require installing a whole new housing and wiring? The current light is a hayward light. Ive attached pics, not entirely sure of the model as its not marked but I believe its and astro light.
Thanks for any input

Welcome to TFP.

Your light is plenty safe with a 120V GFCI circuit. Put in a color changing LED bulb.
