I don't what other forum to put this in. We've just noticed our pool has a large number of very small, fast-swimming bugs that we find near the surface and at some depth. (Sorry, my phone camera no longer focuses well.) We live in the desert in southern CA. My wife noticed them when she was skimming other things with a tea strainer. Any pool chem additives for getting rid of fauna?

Look like thirps to me. Have you been swimming? Do they bite? Most reports I've seen here are that they are transient.

Thanks for the response. Upon closer inspection we think the little critters are boatmen. Yes, we swim daily. They don't seem to bite.

If you're right that they're transient, perhaps we'll leave them be for now. You have to concentrate to see them
