Thanks to searching many posts, I was able to save the cost of buying a new Jandy One Touch control panel after it went out.
I learned to use a multimeter and discovered the voltage was good outside at the PCB but not inside the house, confirming by taking my one touch out and connecting with a short wire just to connect to PCB and it worked wonderfully.
Not sure if some critter had gnawed at my cable under the house where the control panel wire comes into the house from the underground conduit, but the nicks in the wires had led to the copper corrosion and essentially disentegrated leaving a large gap with no wire by the time I pulled enough of it to see what was wrong.
I tried the local home supply box store and could not find an exact matching line that was 18/4.
Is there a specific or preferred type of wire to use or can any 4 strand ‘fire alarm’ or ‘sprinkler system’ wire work for this purpose?
Thanks in advance.

Any 4 conductor wire will work. Or two 2 conductor wires.

Look for 4 conductor telephone wire.

Some folks use 8 conductor cat-5 cable that is readily available and double up each wire to make it 4 conductors.

For that usage wire is wire.

Sprinkler wire works well, though it doesn't always come with the red/green/black/yellow that was used in most Jandy systems. Just be sure to match terminals. 1/1, 2/2, etc. and you'll be fine
