In Ground Spa Leak - ? Fill line

Everything had been going well with taking care of our stand alone in ground spa thanks to this website until we developed a leak last week.

We are loosing 1-4 inches per day from the spa without an obvious area that’s leaking. I was able to do a partial dye test today (all that’s left are the main drains at the bottom of the spa; it got too dark to keep going) and noticed that water is flowing back through the fill line that connects to a manual valve located at the equipment pad. I have noticed that the valve leaks when we turn it on to refill the spa, but it’s been going on for a long time even before this leak and it’s pretty minor. Would a broken valve mechanism be sufficient to cause this type of leak/siphon? Or do I need to keep looking elsewhere, like an issue with the underground pipes?

Welcome to the forum.

That much water should be easy to find. The valve you posted a picture of is an anti siphon valve. That is for a fill up line.

Does your filter have a MPV and a waste setting?

It doesn’t. The water level stopped dropping where the fill line enters the spa. I plugged it with a stopper and no more leak. There must be a leak in the pipe underground, maybe a joint came loose or something. The fill line is non essential so will just plan to use the hose to top off water loss from evaporation.
