Impeller part found in swim spa?

About a month ago, one of our swim current pumps suddenly would not turn off. At the advice of an authorized service tech, we disconnected power at the main disconnect to get it to stop. After that, it would not turn on at all. Service came out the following week, found a blown fuse and replaced it, and we were able to turn the pump on and off like normal. They could not say why we could not control the pump and said to call them back out if it happens again.
Since then, we noted the problem pump to be louder when using the spa and there are more vibrations ripples in the calmer parts of the water.

We got in last night and found a hard piece of black plastic on the floor of the spa. It has a sharp machined edge and what looks like a rough portion of an edge like it was broken off of something larger. It is also twisted and curved (see attached images). It was not there last time we used it, and the spa is covered and locked when not in use. There is no way this piece could have just fallen in to the water from outside.

Could this be part of the problem pump’s impeller blade?

I would open up the pump and examine the impeller. The noise and vibration is a clue.

Running the pump too long with an imbalanced impeller can ruin the bearings and cost more to repair or require replacement.
