Imagine Illusion 40 Complete 10/19/21

I worked somewhere that had an aggressive safety program and I too think about these kinds of things, especially since I'm almost blind in one eye.
I have been the designated safety person on various jobs & gone through osha 10 & 30 - watching that made me cringe 😬

They have been doing this for awhile and never reported having a stone go through the wall or floor of the pool. That shell is pretty thick. The bottom is even thicker at almost 3" the dad said. That's why he wont add bubblers anymore because he did it once n didn't have enough to screw the threaded pipe to the bubbler. He also said he will not add main drains to the pool because it's a source for leaking down the road. He said one guy refused to take no for an answer n within 5 years it leaked n he had to seal it. He told me with proper flow (which I have) I'll never need a main drain and I have heard it here on TFP throughout the years and I know he's right.

It's not going through the fiberglass (that would be a heck of a shot) but locally flexing it enough to spider/crack the gelcoat. They also seem to be using a lot lower pressure air jet than I originally envisioned.

I was OSHA 24 hour Hazmat, and if you ever worked in the Bell System (Old school phone company) you know their views on safety. That was just a corneal abrasion waiting to happen (or worse)

It's almost filled in this video. He put in 6 buckets of crushed stone. I asked him if he was the one who got suckered into that job n he said he is the only one he wants doing the job. They have used flowable fill n dont like the results because iui t can get away from you and came up with this and said you have to be careful because it can raise the pool if you dont know what you're doing.

I once had a tech who was like 5 foot nothing working for me. He was also one of my most technically astute techs - he normally got the more technical, advanced, troubleshooting jobs. But, every so often I would hand him a work packet with some simple, mundane, stuff it in, and he would ask why. My response was, "Charlie, you know the size of the crawlspaces in those apartments, nobody else on the team can fit in there".

Yes - Ma Bell doesn’t play with safety. Been in many bell buildings over the years.

I wonder if this guy is deaf because the video is already very loud let alone being in front of that hole.
He had ear plugs in but as its being driven home with a mac truck... he had NO SAFETY GLASSES.

How are things going today? Have u put your toes in yet?
Pool is almost filled. We did some plumbing and ran the lights n conduit. I thought I was getting hard plumbed but its flex. It seems pretty ridged n looks like it should be fine. I'm not mad about it. These guys have been A+++ in my eyes so I'm going with it. We got the well point set and the plumbing for the slide. The concrete pad for the pump is mapped out. I have been gardening n pool building all day. I'm trying to get my spring bulbs in. Here are some pics...

I honestly would make them change that. It seems like practically every leak we see on here was flex. I think it is rare to have a leak in rigid, especially underground. Above ground... I am going to paint mine to try to protect from UV, but I would not want to compromise on that. I am not a plumber - but I wanted to make sure that the last thing I had to worry about was tearing up 10 years from now.

I'm not having them take it out. They have not had any issues with it so I'm going with it. It is pretty thick n hard and I dont forsee any issues. If it does cause issues down the road, I'll bust the concrete out, do a bigger deck n buy a bigger slide n probably add a new fountain n add deck jets or something.

I am surprised at how blue that pool looks! I love it!

--Jeff
It will end up being a turquoise aqua color. Itll be beautiful. PB keeps telling me the water is dirty. I know it is. I think I impressed him with my TF Pro Salt that I showed him. His dad asked me if I were buying chemicals from them? I answered quickly n said no but I may by some calcium. I mean I just bought a huge pool! Lol

Some videos I was to tired to post yesterday.

I was trying to watch them n get my garden in like mentioned previously. My neighbors have been gawking hard at the pool. They are coming from 5 blocks over to see it. People who have lived here for 40+ years. They think its awesome we put a pool in. We are only the second inground pool here. There is a vinyl pool 3 houses above me. But this is the only fiberglass pool. With al the trouble I had with the borough... it'll probably be the only fiberglass pool here. They were truly a bunch of jerks with me n my builders. I saw n videos truck after truck for local deliveries and I made darn sure I videoed all my local deliveries stayed off their dumb road so they can't get me for damage.

When the pool install is complete take one final video showing the pool and then pan over to the road showing its current condition. While filming state the date and the final score of the latest football or baseball game to "timestamp" the video.

Its looking great!
