I'm a long time pool owner and at my wits end trying to get my pool in shape!

Stock up on DE and keep on filtering.

You are using DE and not some alternative media?

I can't imagine the grids keeping much of anything in/on them when they're almost bare of DE.
The pool was in fairly good shape before this last round w/grids in.
Clogged up quickly on Sunday, and again on Monday. Trying to filter anymore dead algae out the way I've been cleaning the grids 2-3 times a week isn't going to solve the problem I've been having for weeks and weeks.
It's great that we've gotten my pool almost in shape, but the issues with filter pressure has been going on for months and months, and if I can't figure out why when the grids get a little clogged up in less than one day I'm going to be fighting this every month or less. If I lose the water circulation right away, I'm not going to be able to keep the algae in control. This is what I've been fighting for the last 2 or 3 years. Not before.
You say keep the FC up. Yes. Keep the water flow up 2. Probably not possible; still on going issue...
The grids clog up too fast. (I've been told grids are OK. For sure?)
The DE is not adhering to the grids; very little of it. Contaminants go back into pool.
The pump seems to load up/increase tank pressure quickly. Seems fine on startup; but no reserve power.
Something isn't right. It's not just the green pool. I'm 81, tired, no time, got to get a handle on this....
I'm looking for idea's. I've got a couple. Looking for backup <G> CUL

Huh? Look at my latest pics. And expensive. City charges for extra water here...
The green is gone, but other issues!
I'm just thinking you have a lot of filtering left to do and are having DE filter issues. Sometimes the right course of action is to cut losses, dump and refill. But I don't know your area and water charges, but just wanted to mention it.

I feel for you. My 81 year old dad filled his pool in with dirt this year after taking care of it for 40+ years.

I had issues with my DE filter ALL-THE-TIME. I used ahh-some swimming pool clarifier and bio-cleaner which helped DE stick to my grids. They also make a filter cleaning formula.
This year I replaced my DE filter with the aquastar pipeline (they're located in CA) and my water clarity is much better and I can run my FC much lower without issue.

Yes. Clorox DE lately, price went up to $37-38. See some online for less. May try...

For how many pounds?

I pay $40 for 24lbs of DE. $1.67/lb.

Each backwash needs 5lbs of DE so costs me $9 in DE.

Thanks, but after all these weeks of slamming the pool, no way lol. The pool is blue; just cloudy.
As I said in my first posts, I believe my problem to be the pump and/or filter. Still trying to figure which...

Yeah. That's me. Family wants to keep it going. Never had issues w/filter till about 3 years ago when I had to change from 1 hp single to current 1.5 variable. No oomph! Oh well....
