I have always been an advocate for an "Non-USA Pools" section in hopes that the posters from EU/AU/Elsewhere can hopefully contribute information to help others in obtaining test supplies and pool care resources in their own country or continent that match the TFPC method promoted here. For example- how the AU folks work to find the best test kit and advise each other when that fake-TF100 kit came out there.

Sometimes the lingo or the language is a problem when not in English to grasp but other pool owners in that country might have the right sources to offer.

During our reorganization of the sub-forums, we may consider it again but it did a nose-dive several years ago.......I thought it would be a big success.

Things may be different now. Lots more people, a credit to TFP and youtube, are more comfortable with performing pool equipment upgrades, and as a result have some items that still work and could be of use to others. A general classified section may be good, where post title could lead with "For Sale: xxxx" or "Wanted: xxxx".

I would love to see it at least tried for a period. I would see it having spurts, like spring in US, where there are more posts than maybe others.

I fully endorse this suggestion as I often have to pay high shipping charges if we
can find a supplier to ship
It may be possible to group purchase or get suppliers to realise that there is a market for their products outside the states

Well, yes, there is that. But on some forums, chat can create a more online community "hang out". As opposed to an admittedly friendly and informative Q and A site. Not sure if that works for the TFP premise. Just saying.
 
Well, this is a little more popular than I thought.

Let's do this.......tomorrow at noon let's close this thread and then let us review all these great suggestions.

We'll then have time to sort out what we can and can't do, what we think are the best ideas and see if we can't implement those.

Don't be discouraged if it takes us some time and we only do a few things. This forum is a big ole' beast and not easy to push it in a different direction.

Dave for the short time I've been here you and your team have done a great job, having been a moderator on another forum with this format was a daunting challenge (Helicopter field) from what I have seen they are excellent help to you and your team and all of the folk looking for the knowledge they need for themselves. looking forward to the changes to come. my 2 cents, market place for buy, sell, trade and swap. how to video/tutorials library on repair, maintenance and general care. chat option would be good also for live quick q&a to those in the know.

I would love for someone to really scrutinize and update the articles in pool school as there are some inconsistencies.

An example would be that in ABC's (Pool School - ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry) it is recommended that an indoor pool CYA level should be 0-20. Here it says 20-30: Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart .

That is just one easily identified, albiet obscure, example. There are several others that need attention. I don't have time right now before this thread closes to provide more examples.

If this issue becomes a priority, a new thread could perhaps be opened where people would chime in on other ways to tweak pool school to make an already great resource even more concise.

Since this thread is still open another thought to share, something else to add to the video/tutorial section are links the manufactures web sites for manuals for those home owners that no longer have them or were not there when the arrived at the new house.

THe problem I see with this idea is it puts the onus on TFP to maintain links to the most current sites & manuals, which in actuality are pretty easy for folks to find themselves online.

How about a page where you can upload pdf's of manuals, could be useful for old models that can be harder to find online

Can we update the pool surfaces page to include thermoplastics (aka aquabright)

I agree with the overseas page for sourcing outside of the US, it would be really helpful.

Under recommended chemicals can we also refer to hydrochloric acid as well please. I had never heard of muriatic acid, and neither had the 3 or 4 hardware stores I visited. I never realised they were the same thing for a couple of years :brickwall:

A gallery section. It could include a area for photos of pool surfaces with names, landscaping ideas for agp or inground, show off your pool/backyard....

A section on pool heaters under pool equipment.

Oh and a great big thanks to everyone who works behind the scenes, I think you do an awesome job
