Identify skimmer for float valve

I’ve owned the pool for a couple years and realized there is no skimmer float valve and I loose prime pretty easily if leaves are In the basket. Any idea what skimmer model I have? Lid says pentair, but no model number. Pool was built in 2005. Thanks,

What model number is on your lid? Any model number on your weir door?

Look at the differences in covers and weir doors between these models and you may be able to identify your skimmer model - Skimmer Parts - Pentair Skimmer Parts

Unfortunately there is no model number on the lid that I can find, only a blank box where it says Model. It does say Pentair on the lid.
The weir was also missing when we moved in, I bought an aftermarket one by guessing and it's not the correct one but does the job with a slight modification I made. I went ahead and emailed Pentair, maybe they'll reply.

Thanks!!!! Just saw your note on lids, based on the lid design it looks like a Bermuda, the other skimmer lids are different. Safe assumption they never changed lid designs and I have a Bermuda skimmer?

C,

So your pool has been operating just fine without a main drain, for years, just like thousands of other pool...

What do you hope to gain by adding a diverter? In my experience... Nothing...

Thanks,

Jim R.

If the parts match up with the diagram I would give it a try.

I'm still learning so maybe I have this wrong, but it seems the pump loses prime quiet easily (mostly in the middle of the night) when the basket has leaves around the sides but is nowhere close to full, so I was under the impression a skimmer float valve would help me not lose prime so easily. When I bought the house the pool had a few issues I've since learned about, one was a missing weir door and since there is no float valve seemed like this was also a missing piece. Let me know if you don't think this will offer any improvement.

C,

You are not wrong, I just wanted to make sure you were not disappointed with the outcome.

If the pump looses prime with just a few leaves in the basket I doubt the diverter will fix the problem, but it can't hurt to try one. It takes a lot more effort to suck water from the main drain, so if the pump looses prime from the skimmer, it probably won't pull from the main drain either.

I did not initially see that you have an in floor cleaning system... If that is true, does it have its own main drain? Generally in-floor systems sweep the junk into some kind of drain to be collected. Are you using the in-floor system?

Good job on getting a Weir door.. It is what makes the skimmers work..

Another option, if you get a lot of leaves, is a skimmer basket that has a tower in the middle.. The tower lets water in even if full of leaves.

Thanks,

Jim R.

We do use a Paramount in floor cleaning system, right next to the skimmer is the blue basket with a cealed white canister lid. I believe we only have one main drain that is plumbed to paramount cleaning basket.

Currently have a Skimpro Tower-Vented skimmer basket, wondering if that might also not be the best choice and should use OEM basket for my specific skimmer...?
