Ideas for pool deck amenities...

We've put in our first in ground pool. We will be finishing the rest of the build ourselves. We built the patio, and I'll be finishing the sunken kitchen this spring. The wife and I both like the idea of a fire pit and a pool house, but we're afraid we will either over do it, or leave out something that y'all consider a necessity... Any suggestions would be great - What is it that you can't live without? Additionally, any pool side kitchen necessities, or things to avoid?

Pool house=what do you think you would use it for?

How close is the closest bathroom in the main house? Do people have to walk all the way into the house and track wet foot prints to get to it?

Pool house-bathroom and changing room. I would have a covered patio off of the pool house if you go that way for seating.

Fire pit-I would get the pretty ones from Lowes and such that you can move as wanted. Some comfy seating around it and you are set.

LOVE what you have done with the pool and decking. Those are some good cuts you did there! Nice skills!

My sister in law is building an outdoor bathroom and shower due to the closest bathroom being all the way thru the house. If you do have a salt water pool I feel like a shower is good. But this is me if I were swimming in a salt water pool...looks like you have plenty of room to work with too :D
 
Hard to gauge in this picture where the house is located. Is it that red building way out in the distance or is that another barn? If so, then for sure you need a poolhouse. Not sure of your budget but I would make something nice like at least 1000 - 1500 sq feet and have a full bath along with a changing room and maybe a living room with A/C and tv, etc.

Ah yes I can see the shadow now. It is definitely calling for something. It is out there isolated with a ton of open space. Kind of lonely! I suggest some fast growing trees around it that are already close to 10 feet or more. Build your oasis.
 
I love the grey! My .02 is definitely put a garbage in your outdoor kitchen. If it's not covered think about what you would use drawers for. They will get some water in them rom rain so stuff inside will get wet. I didn't do drawers for that reason but wish I had done one for grilling tools. Can't live without: For the deck treat yourself to a daybed. I love it and will get another in a heartbeat when the time comes. Baleares Bronze Modular Lounger | Frontgate

Great input... We never considered water in the drawers, that will defiantly play a role in how we finish the kitchen. We were planning on partially covered - something like a pergola, now I'm wondering if even the cabinets will be affected by the elements.
