Also my pool looks pretty clear under the cover.
I'm jelly for the clarity. It's been real windy by me and the filter can't catch a break to make any progress. I'm getting the whole deep end hazy with the light on. It'll get there, and that's why we invented POP. :)

The solar cover is probably helping a lot. Getting a lot of pollen and organic debris on that, but that means it isn't going into the water. Gonna probably add DE to the filter soon too, as it's getting to that stage. :)

Do folks in cold climates take their salt cells in for winter or leave them out? Do I have any use for the dummy cell thingie? Looks like they're trying to sell it (a piece of PVC with unions on it) for $50-$90 retail but there are generic versions I can get for like $26 that might be worth it.

I bring mine inside after winterizing. It's designed to handle the elements and all, but I'd never leave $1800 buried in a snowdrift, so. :ROFLMAO:

Especially if it was electronic funds.

The dummy cell is useful if you ever want the system up with the cell out. It's easy and much cheaper than the OEM one to make your own with 2 unions and some pipe. The aftermarket ones are worth it if the price is right.

I remove the cell and store it indoors for the winter. I’ve never run the pool without the cell installed so I have no use for the dummy cell.

I leave mine installed, but I also leave my pool running year round. I did buy the pentair dummy cell, as I needed replacement unions for some rework, and it made the cost of the whole thing reasonable.

If you take it out and don't have a dummy cell, make sure you cover the open pipes to prevent critters and other debris from getting in there.

Yessir. #10 expanding plugs.

Then a zip lock baggie goes over the end. Then a healthy amount of duct tape. The zip lock baggie keeps the duct tape from fusing itself to the PVC.

Well for one, dogs are jerks sometimes and winterizing plugs look tasty for some reason. :ROFLMAO:

I also wouldn't want a snow drift freeze thawing on it for a couple of weeks.
Ahhh... Makes sense. Dogs can be jerks. LOL

Also, I forget about freeze/thaw stuff as we don't get enough to be of a concern (except for our terrible roads).
