I did an owner build and the electrician wired up everything but I've caught several mistakes. The latest issue I found was that the IC40 SWG was still getting power even when the pump was off. The electrician wired the SWG power (yellow and white wires) to it's own CB. I realize that this needs to go to the pump/filter relay (load side) which I did (see attached). Once I did this, the SWG only turns on when I select SPA mode. When in Pool mode, it does not power on. Any help would be appreciated.

Besides your swg, it appears nothing else was on the load leg of relay 1, are you sure that it is connected to the fltr port on the intellicenter board? If you have a multimeter, relay 1 should read 220-240v across terminal 2 and 4.

Also of note -
1. your 2nd gfci breaker is double stabbed which is not allowed per NEC unless the breaker is listed as such which the siemens breaker is not.
2. It looks like your chiller blower is fed off of that same double stabbed breaker but the neutral lands on the neutral bar instead of the breaker which could create an imbalance with nuisance tripping, it looks like that is your pump breaker, intelliflo 3 draws over 12 amps at full power, the swg is around 1 amp and an air supply 1.5hp blower draws over 7 amps at full so you are exceeding 80% draw rule. Someone may correct me, but I dont believe the blower requires gfci so you could move the blower supply wires to the (now) spare breaker that you took the swg off of. This would also resolve #1
3. Blue wires are being used as both hot and neutral. At a min the neutral ones should be taped white to identify as neutral.

SB,

The cell should only get power when in the Pool mode or Spa mode.

Since it works in the Spa mode, I have to assume you are not actually in the Pool mode..

Is the Pool Circuit turned on?? Or is something like "Pool high" or "Pool low" on??? Just because it has "Pool" in the circuit name does not mean you are in the Pool mode.

Show me a list of your schedules..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I checked and it's the main pool circuit. It's really strange that as soon as I turn the spa mode on, I hear the relay click and the swg lights up but then when I turn it off and back to Pool mode, the swg powers off. Attached are some screenshots from my app including the schedules

Check that the Circuit Function for your Pool Circuit is set to Pool.

What software release are you running in the IntelliCenter?

Everything looks correct.

I suggest you call Pentair Support and escalate to an IntelliCenter specialist.

We have seen enough bugs and quality problems with new systems recently that with a new system that has never worked right you may have a bad board.

Humor me - open the low voltage compartment and confirm that the lv wires from relay 1 are connected to the fltr header on the main i5 card, not the spa header on the ps daughter card.20220713_124354~2.jpg

Pool mode isn't active in that screenshot. The power icon should be blue and it's greyed out (see arrow). Press the power icon and see what happens.

Ahultin, I'm really glad you wanted to be humored because sure enough the relay was in the wrong spot although not where you expected. Even crazier is that it was in the EHTR spot (Electric Heater) which I don't even have. See connection on far right of the attached picture. I moved it over to the filter spot and everything is working correctly.

I'm just learning about all this (obviously) but what's interesting and why I never caught this is because the pump was working just fine for both pool and spa mode. Maybe because of the RS485 connection? The only reason I caught this was because I realized the swcg needed to be powered from the relay which then exposed this problem.

Anyway, can't thank everyone enough for the help!

Correct, your intelliflo 3 gets constant power and receives it commands via rs485.
Glad it worked out without the need to go to pentair!
I'd still make the other electrical corrections as it will prevent some headaches and make any further work you do on the system easier. None of them would be difficult to correct. Probably 15 minutes max :)
I took a closer look and revised my comments above.
