IC40 salt level lights blinking red and green…?

A couple of thoughts. Does the psi gauge rest at "0" when pump is off so we know we have a good gauge. The diverter valve after the cell has no handle so how do you know that valve isn't restricting flow and are you sure the pump is up to snuff and putting out what it should. can you amp out the pump wire to see what amperage it's pull which is another tell tale of pump condition.

Jeff,

Is your pump even running at all? It should be making plenty of noise if it is.

Show me the normal screen on your EasyTouch's display.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Pump is running and I get a full pipe of flow going into the SWG.

Gauge with pump off. I am wondering if this new flow switch isnt working now. I get a full pipe of flow before going into SWG. I have really good flow back into pool through jets.

D,

Step 1. There is a little arrow on the flow switch, make sure it is pointed in the direct of flow. If ok go to step 2

Step 2. As a test only, connect the Red and Black wires coming from the cell. This will make the cell think that the flow switch is close.

If the red flow light goes out with the Red and Black wires connected, then the flow switch must be bad.

Note that running the cell with the flow switch Jumper'd, and no water flow, can cause the cell to explode. Ok as a quick test, but do not run it this way normally.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Ok…so connect the green and white wires from the cell to the corresponding green and white wires on the flow switch but connect the black and red coming from cell together and not to the switch?

Connected in this manner the red flow light is still on.

D,

Your wiring is correct.

Well, I have never seen it before, but it appears the cell itself is bad.

But, I find it hard to believe.. I'd want to make absolutely the connection between the red and black wires is good. Are the wires corroded?

Thanks,

Jim R.

I cleaned the wires and connected them back together. When I turn the power back on, the flow light shows green for about 30 seconds and then goes to red and stays there with the salt level lights flashing green and red. According to diagnostics, my cell has only used 20% of its life.

Shows 2016 on label. I bought the house in December of 2021 and it was here when we moved in.

Now this is happening…Crud I dont know what to do! I agree that 6 years is a long time but it seems to be working now. I’ll probably just order one anyway as I am sure this one will croak before too much longer or in the next 10 minutes. Who knows 🤷🏼 . Thanks for the advice
