IC40 replacement

I need to replace my IC40. It's well past it's 10,000 hour lifetime, isn't generating much Cl, and requires cleaning every week. (Ca level is moderately high so I do have to clean it more frequently but usually only every month or 2.) Last time I replaced it, it cost under $600. Now it is $1100. Anybody know of a cheaper but still high quality solution that will work with a Pentair control box?

SWG cells are binary. Either they generate chlorine or they generate no chlorine. They don't degrade slowly.

That is a water chemistry problem not a problem requiring cell replacement. The scale buildup can lower the chlorine output of the cell by blocking the plate area.

None I would recommend. You get what you pay for. The lower cost generic cells have less life.

It sounds to me like you have life left in your cell if you adjust your water chemistry. If you want to post your latest test results in the format below and tell us what test kit you use we can discuss it...

None I would recommend. You get what you pay for. The lower cost generic cells have less life.

I kind of suspected this is a "you get what you pay for situation".

Water chemistry is fine and I've been following TFP guidelines for years. I've had the pool for 14 years and watched the previous SWG slowly degrade as it hit its end of life. One of the symptoms of EOL was the much more rapid deposition of Ca on the plates. I've wondered if this is due cumulative degradation of the plates by cleaning.

In 10+ years of using IntelliChlor cells I have NEVER needed to clean mine. With the right water chemistry they do not accumulate scale.
