IC20 vs IC40 for smaller pool

Just had a quick look at the iChlor...not really all that impressed. Looks like it's somewhere between IC20-IC40? It's nice that it can be set in 1% increments, but if the newer model IC's can go from 2-4-8-10-20.... I think I'm ok with that. The IC60 at smaller increments still looks better....or am I missing something?

I don't love the price tag, but I got the "Pentair IntellifloXF 022055", which is probably way overkill, but it should do everything I want it to and then some.

I've convinced myself that it's ok. When I re-do my plumbing from filter through heater to SWG here shortly, I'll be removing the check valve between heater and SWG that PB installed.....I think this is leftover from the tablet chlorinator days and not needed for a SWG because when the SWG is off there is no more chlorine being produced that could seep back into the heater and damage it (possibly). But do your due diligence and convince yourself!

I have seen the heat exchanger in a PH last less than a month because the pool company did NOT install a check valve after the heater. Chlorinator was the puck style, and to top it off the pool company would not stand behind they're work. Our company went very easy on the guy for seeing the predicament he was in.... sad world we live in sometimes. I have also seen pools that have the IC~ installed without a check valve that have been up and going for years, no issues. So I'm convinced! Just wanted everyone's take on here...

I will say, I do plan on having a "bypass" on my heater once all the final plumbing is done. It'll be for the "just in case" my water params go south. Probably will never be needed, but who knows. I've even thought about using it when the heater is no longer needed (I only use mine spring / fall for the most part). It would be one less restriction.

In the end it's up to you, I've said everything I know (I'm a newbie too)! If you really only have 15,000 gallons total, I don't think you need a 60,000gal cell (IC60, 4x your pool), but that's just my opinion, others have different opinions. You need to decide if you need automation for other things, or to just control the pump and SWG, if it's the latter, going with the iCHLOR which is 1% controllable and can (presumably) talk to your pump might be better (i.e. cheaper and simpler). Make sure your pump and iCHLOR are compatible. In your cooler climate and with running pump 24hrs/day I would think a 30,000gal cell would be plenty. ok I'm signing off, good luck!
