I'm a relatively new pool owner, downright green by comparison to some of y'all. So as you can imagine, I've been learning a lot and just when I think I know pretty much "everything" I learn something new.

Saturday was one of those days. I learned that if I rotate the jets in the spa, I can control the amount of flow. I also learned that's how you can remove them from the pipe. And, I also learned that if you play with the flow, you can get enough to ensure the water stays moving but prevent it from pulling in air.

There are many different types of spa jets used. Some are adjustable like you discovered yours are. And some that have a fixed flow.

There are no standards to pool and spa builds. When you inherit a pool and spa you have to not be afraid of touching your equipment to learn what you have.

I had a a leaky return line on my pool. I had to drain like a foot of water to fix it. Fixed it and began refilling the pool. It took a week to do this cause I’m on a well and I got a big agp. Now I have a beast of a pump and the water I thought has to be at least to the middle of the skimmer to keep my pump from creating the vortex and losing prime. I was reading a post completely unrelated to my issue and someone was saying something about turning down the outflow of the return for something or other. I thought. Huh. So I went out and turned down my return flow and I was able to start my pump on low without sucking it dry with just an inch of water over the skimmer. I got to restart 2 days early which is a relief as hot and windy as it’s been. Reading random posts can sometimes lead you to great discoveries for your own unique pool.
