Hey folks!

I just did my water test, and my pH is 8.0, and TA is 130. I did an Acid Demand test and it's 3. I don' t understand how to use the AD test result to work out how much Muriatic Acid to put into the pool? The brand I have is AcidBlue by Hampion.

Any guidance on this would be great!

AcidBlue says it is 31% acid.

PoolMath says every 5 oz will lower your pH by 0.1.

Best to lower your pH by 0.3 using 15 oz, wait 30 minutes, and then retest. Repeat until you get to your target pH.

Thanks @ajw22. I was getting hung up on the Acid Test number, but this way seems a lot more straight forward.

With any test kit that has an acid demand reagent there should be a 2D chart where you look up your pool volume and the number of drops of reagent and then the entry in the chart is typically in fluid ounces of acid. There are different charts for different types and concentrations of acid.

Or just use pool math.

The acid demand test was simply a way for pool techs to know how much chemical to throw into your pool using the easiest possible method.
