Pebbletech people were out fixing some spots on our pebble and used a bunch of muriatic acid this morning. It has been about 6 hours and the pH is 6.8. Kids want to swim....I realize I want pH at 7.2-7.8 but are we ok to swim right now???
Ok, thanks. Sheer decent and spa overflow have been runningNot at 6.8! Will hurt their eyes and skin ---
Aerate!!
Correct. 6.8 is the bottom of the range. Depending how much acid they added it could have lowered TA to 0 leaving ph somewhere in the 4s. We must know a TA number to properly advise.

And here, ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry
Raise TA to 60ish and add whatever bleach is needed. Recheck pH after an hour or so.
It'll take more than a day for an otherwise clear pool to go green.
30 minutes is fine.
There was something in the water that reacted with the FC and created CC. Raise the FC up again. You can go all the way to shock level and it will still be swimmable. High FC and sunlight should eliminate that CC.
Either way you need chlorine. Both Jason and Richard in previous posts suggest getting your FC to shock level now. That should help clear up whatever is there.
Ok, added all the bleach, waited 30 minutes and restested and FC is 17....it needed to be 16 to shock for my CYA of 40. So, now that that's taken care of....what's next?!
The most important part, maintain that FC. If you still plan to use the pool, try to keep FC at 12-14ppm for your guests. As soon as they are out of the pool for the evening, get right back up to 16-18ppm.
