I made a pool logger

Hey. Thanks for helping test this. Shhh. You weren't supposed to tell anyone yet! Just kidding. Anyways, as it is set up (and I only have a few users on it right now) it will remind you based on your reminder intervals in the settings page. Then you can set the reminder interval for when you ignore the first reminder. And yes, you can turn them off and on. Great idea on turning specific ones off. I didn't have that enabled. I will do something like that after testing. Good idea.

If anyone in the US, on a provider other than Verizon or AT&T, want to test this, let me know as I already have users testing on those providers.

By the way: The app just passed well over 10,000 logs entered a couple days ago!! All from a little project I just made for myself. I'm glad I decided to open it up to everyone. Thanks to all the early users that helped develop ideas along the way.
I'm on Cricket. I'd be happy to test for you. Of course, Cricket runs on the AT&T network so I don't know if this is helpful.

Cricket is supported. It is out of testing now and you can go into settings and set it up now. Let me know how it works as I don't have anyone on cricket yet.

Thanks for everyone who tested it. I worked out a few kinks and I think it's running well. I am going to work on polishing some of the GUI next and then work on the charts and chemical additions pages. Then hopefully get going on multiple pool support. I did add some stuff to the quick calculators that lets you add the amounts directly to the chemical log with one click. Right now it's only for bleach and acid. More coming there too. Enjoy.

I agree that getting a Text to remind me about a test that is due is a very nice addition. It is funny how this free web app keeps getting better and better, but I keep wanting more and more. You know, more graphs! Let me add MORE pools. MORE pool math!

LOL... I feel for the developer. Though it is a thankless job, I really DO APPRECIATE all your work, Russell. Awesome app! Now get me some MORE stuff! /runs away

This was great! I noticed it and used it yesterday. Cool feature! Keep up the awesome work!

Set it up and it works awesome!

I have one suggestion for people like me who have a programmable variable speed pump. It would be nice to be able to enter my set schedule / speed settings once so the app can track my pump usage without me entering the hours every day. I don't see a speed setting at all now that I think about it. I can also override the schedule at any time. For example if I want to add chems at the end of the day when it is on low speed I can run a 4 hour quick clean to get the circulation up to max.

I suppose this feature doesn't make much sense unless you plan to track pump usage though.

Oh, it would also be nice to be able to track flow in addition to PSI.

Regardless, keep up the great work!

Yes. I still haven't made corrections for filter type and variable/2 speed pumps. I am totally up for suggestions on how to handle them as far as how to tell when the filter needs backwashing with a vs pump. Do you initially test pressure at max speed to get a baseline? Or test multiple psi and various speeds. Cause that could be much more complicated.

Dank - sounds like a good idea, and something that feeds along that line would be to have a standard automated chlorine entry every day. I have a stenner pump and it adds the same amount of chlorine every day for me, adjusting every few weeks if my testing shows that my FC is drifting up or down. It would be nice if the chlorine entry could be automated to show what my pump is adding on a daily basis for me without having to do a manual entry every day.

This is obviously just a nice to have as the app is working very well and it wouldn't apply to everyone, so Russell if you still maintain a list and entertain additional ideas it's definitely some icing on the cake for something down the road. Thanks.

Really nice feature add!

The time stamp is an hour behind in the log vs when you actually click "here" on the calculator. Then when I go to the Chemical Log > Edit, I can not edit the date/time, only can edit the chemical quantity value.

If you test less than an hour before you add, then it appears in the logs like you added the chemical first and then tested. Double wammy for history purposes.

When in SLAM mode, the tooltip for FC tells you specific info related to SLAM mode ("SLAM mode active!").

Perhaps the CC tooltip should say 'maintain SLAM' when CCs are over 0.5 in SLAM mode, instead of recommending that you SLAM the pool (as it currently does in SLAM mode or not)?

Also, when entering in chemicals, could there be a wider variety of units to enter them in(fl oz vs. oz)?

Maybe support metric users?

Oops looks like that may be a bug...i can fix it. Sorry about that.

Edit: Fixed on my end, can you check it?

Time stamp is accurate for me entering in test values. I cannot edit the time and date of a test entry in the logs though.

You should be able to change your unit type in settings. If it's not working. Let me know.

and good idea on the CC's!!!
You're right, I see the system of measures choices now.

Could the units to enter them in be corrected (fl oz vs. oz)? I'm not sure if choosing 'oz' is by weight or volume  (sorry for my crazy!)

Something I noticed this morning was that if the CC was in range, there was no tooltip saying it was a good value (had 0.5CC in SLAM mode).

Got it, I will work on that when I get a chance! Thanks for all of your suggestions.

Minor bug: I edited my calcium chloride from 118oz to 7.4 lbs in the logs to differentiate it as a dry chemical. However, in charts areas where you click to see all chemical additions, it lists it as 7.4oz instead of the correct unit of lbs.

Awesome job, very clean and usable. I had tried PoolMath and was a bit underwhelmed and was ready to start making my own. Glad I found this, it's probably along the lines of what I would do. Nicer UI for sure.

A few things:
1. I normally use 12.5% chlorine, but occasionally will pick up some 10% from WalMart if the data code is new. When I click "+Chems", there is no choice for 10%. Lots of other strengths of other chemicals, but only my default 12.5% for the chlorine appears in my list.

"Would be cool if..." (I hate hearing that too... LoL)
2. In "View Historical Tests" I'd love to at least have the option for blanks instead of "NT". Very easy to see at a glance when you have a full row of tests, etc. Try it and you'll see what I mean. :)

CHARTS
3. Not sure what library you use (or did you custom make the charts?) but can the dates be plotted with correct x-axis spacing? This is similar to the Excel problem where when you have dates that are not evenly spaced, you need to use a scatter plot to space them correctly. Otherwise Day 1, 2, and 7 appear as 1-2-3 in spacing. Can't really see the gaps at a glance. At least I think that's how I'm seeing this, ignore if not.

4. If your library supports multiple series per chart, I would love a dotted line for upper/lower bands on a few of these. For chlorine, maybe red dotted for minimum, and other color dotted for recommended min/max for your CYA. (So for 40 CYA, red dotted at 3 and say green dotted at 5 and 7. Again, I'm all about getting lots of info with a glance. You'd immediately see where you spiked over or under and roughly how "in the middle" you've been.
For CYA-based chlorine bounds, it would be possible for those levels to change across the chart so you'd have to go back and look at CYA for each chlorine data point posted.
For pH it would be cool to have CSI-based bounds. You could have a setting "Absolute or CSI". Absolute you set your own pH upper/lower limit. CSI you'd set a min/max CSI and it would show you the horizonal bounds based on where those WOULD be met for pH change alone. So even if my pH were to somehow stay steady at 7.6, those CSI bounds would slowly come down as my hardness tested higher and higher.

I know these aren't exactly 2-minute ideas but I thought I'd throw them out there. Great job so far. If I wasn't so dang busy I'd off to help!

Killer ideas! Thank you. I was already experimenting with a different chart library for a) prettier charts and b) more options like you mentioned. For those one off time you buy a different strength bleach. I can put in other options. Never really thought about that. I also see what you mean in the NT. Thanks. I appreciate the input and the compliments.
