I made a pool logger

Good deal! It should have always matched if you were using Fahrenheit. Celsius was the problem. But it's all good now. Sorry for the mistake.

I figured out why mine wasn't matching up, and it wasn't your app that was messing up. The PoolMath app (not website) doesn't calculate CSI properly if you don't input something for salt. Your app and PoolMath website match, but PoolMath app doesn't match either your app or the website. Now to find the email of that developer......

Also, can you make it so we can edit the date/time on the edit screen? I was inputting all my logs from the PoolMath app and messed up am/pm for a couple and had to delete them and reenter them again. Gonna be doing that again once Multi-Pool is released, so I'll probably screw up am/pm again, lol.

I think pool math app uses 1000 for salt if you don't enter anything. If my users want that I'll change it but right now it uses 0.

Ill make the changes in the edit screen soon. Thanks.

Personally, I prefer 0 if you haven't entered any salt. Don't know why it would assume 1000 for salt if you haven't said you'd entered any.

Bleach will add approx 1.65ppm salt for each 1ppm of chlorine.
I've added about 200ppm FC so far this year thus adding 330ppm salt. That's about half a swim season.

Then add in salt from your initial fill (wasn't zero), sweat, previous year additions, removal from water changes, etc. Its normal for a non SWG pool to be well above 1000ppm salt.

Didn't realize chlorine added that much salt, nor had I thought about the other sources. Dev for PoolMath emailed me back; website using 0ppm salt by default and app was using 1000ppm default. Now they're both using 1000ppm default.

I ordered the reagents to test salt because I'm gonna add a little salt to my pool to make the water feel softer, curious how much salt is currently in it after being up for just a month.

It's not a bad idea. Show the default salt value of 1000ppm and have a note advising that it is typical assumption for a non-SWG pool.
It would then match PoolMath and maybe prevent some questions as to why your CSI values don't match those in PoolMath.

Agreed. I think by NOT having the default set to 1000ppm, you will get lots more questions and concerns than just going ahead and matching PoolMath.

I'm a chlorine bleach guy, have never considered testing salt, but sounds like 1000 should be OK.

Russell - you continue to evolve and perfect your tool - I love using it, makes taking care of the pool easy and just when the poollooger seems almost perfect then it gets even better. Just a week or two ago someone pointed out how you'd made the easy addition of chemicals while reviewing results, click the Quick calculator, set your target, get the results of what you need to add and then add it right to your chemical log with one more click.

Thanks.

Thank you! I appreciate all of the great feedback.

I wanna say thanks for be a good developer that actually listens to his users. To many people make apps and programs, then when someone wants a new feature or finds a bug, it's a week minimum before they even acknowledge it, much less fix the bug or consider implement a fix. Just a few hours on fixing CSI, great turn around time. And the fact that this is a free app that doesn't even try to entice people to donate by withholding features.. Thank you for being a good developer.

You are welcome. Added ability to edit the date in tests too like you requested. ;)

I appreciate the comment about the free app as well. I make no money from this app. I made it for myself originally and threw a registration function on it. It has turned into quite the little project. I always want the basic functionality (all logging etc.)to be free but may add premium-like features in the future. I have experimented with Amazon ads etc but without much i luck yet. So, yeah it's a losing situation for me currently but that's ok.

My 2 cents, premium features are much better than ads. Ads just annoy the heck out of me and can make any app look low quality because you have no control over whether they match your overall theme, or flash crazy seizure inducing patterns.
