Hybrid Pool (Fibreglass+Concrete) HELP!

There was a hybrid pool owner here that basically converted his pool to a gunite pool by creating a rebar mesh all around the interior wall, driving it into the concrete base and using the old fiberglass panels as the backstop. The pool got smaller in size but it was now a gunite/plaster pool. Very interesting way to avoid ripping out the fiberglass panels and digging up the entire yard.

Do you possibly know where that thread is? I've been searching all over for it but haven't been able to find it using the search feature. I have a similar situation (1960's hybrid pool with a safety ledge running around the perimeter) and this sounds like the perfect solution to renovate our pool.

The pool is FINALLY fixed right! There is life after EcoFinish installation screw-ups. It took three other pool renovators to undo the EcoFinish mess and put everything back to fiberglass walls and plaster floors but is is DONE!!!! I will post a new thread with all the details in the next week or so but here are a couple of pictures of the pool THIS week....

Fiberglass walls have a light blue embedded in the gelcoat and the plaster floor is Pebble Sheen. We have new tile at the waterline too. Looks and feels great and if you saw the pictures of the EcoFinish disaster you know we went through 2 and 1/2 seasons without a pool......

Wow! So glad you finally got this fixed. It took me a couple of years to decide on what I wanted done with my pool and then another couple of years to work out all the details. Of course, unlike you, we had the use of the pool while I was deliberating.

All's well that ends well!

I really love the tile and concrete coping. If this just attached to the fiberglass?
