I have a few rust looking stains at the bottom of my pool. The two at the top have been there for a while. The three at the bottom have recently appeared. I've tried sweeping, and my chlorine levels are spot on. The upper two have not been receptive to ascorbic acid treatment. I believe they are from an organic source, we live in the forest. The top two were caused by branches I think. Not sure what caused the bottom ones. Any thoughts on what I could use to try to remove them? Thanks!rust_spots.jpg

Remove iron stains with a paste of Vitamin C in a sock rubbed over it.

You can probably do it without it, but I've gone in with a scuba tank to get some iron stain spots off with a Vitamin C tablet in the deep end, especially if you have more than one. I already had a tank handy though. If you have kids, you can make it a challenge for them, who can clean this rusty spot the fastest.

You think it's iron? I know it looks like rust, but it came from a plant. I would have thought putting a couple of lbs of ascorbic acid in the pool would have lightened it up, but it did not. Does it just need to be more concentrated (aka Vitamin-C tablets)?

Yes, I've had issues with iron and usually a rusty spot like that doesn't get lifted by the ascorbic acid and I need to take a tablet and scrub it myself.
