New pool owner here seeking advice on how to best proceed with balancing my pool chemical situation.
Here are my current readings:
FC - 16
PH - 7.8
TA - 100
CYA - 90
CH - 225

We had a significant amount of rain yesterday which caused me to drain about 8in of water from the pool. I had prior been shocking the pool with Leslie’s power powder plus and Doheny’s Super Shock to help get rid of a green pool. The pool is currently cloudy but not green.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Welcome! A cloudy pool means you have excessive organics (algae) and you need to conduct a SLAM Process. Your CYA is a bit high and will require an FC level of "35" as noted on the FC/CYA Chart. You certainly can proceed that way, or you can exchange a bit of water to lower the CYA level a bit to perhaps 50-60 which would require a lower FC level for the SLAM as noted on the FC/CYA Chart. Either way, a SLAM Process is the way to go to clear up that water. Be sure to lower the pH to about 7.2 before increasing the FC level and starting the SLAM.

Be sure to use liquid chlorine or regular bleach to increase and maintain the proper the FC level. Avoid those shock packets as they contain stabilizer (CYA). Same for tabs, so remove those too if in use. Good luck!

I now need to figure out what acid option to use for the PH lowering
In most cases, muriatic acid is best. I get the 31.5% strength HDX acid from Home Depot (pool section 2-pack), but you can get MA just about anywhere. It' s strong and you have to be careful with it, but it's effective without side effects.

Update: muriatic acid has been added as recommended. How long do I need to wait before re-testing PH and therefore starting the SLAM process?

With pump running, liquid chemical additions are well mixed within about 30 minutes.
