How to Landscape around Above Ground Summer Wave Elite Frame Pool?

Hello! I am a new pool owner. My 18 foot above ground Summer Wave Frame Pool is ready for landscaping around the outside.

The pool liner is on a Gorilla pad set on clay. I couldn't use sand as it would void the warranty. The manufacturer stated the sand would wash out and the pool could collapse. I need to try to keep the clay dry and stable under the legs. I now regret not putting a brick under each leg and worry about them moving under wet clay. We have had a lot of rain the past few weeks and it is a real mess!

Our plan is to put down plastic and weed block, then place a 1/2 buried landscape boarder on the outside and zip tie each pole to it. Next, add stepping stones (preferably against each pole) so we can walk around the pool for maintenance, top soil, mosquito repellent plants, water loving hosta and 1"-3." round river rock. I know the hosta will thrive but I may need to keep the other plants potted due to the poor soil.

I have two questions. Will the plastic and river rock be enough to keep the area dry and what to put between the landscape boarder and the pool liner behind the poles? Any suggestions? Since river rock is smooth is shouldn't hurt the liner but I'm going to try to keep the rock out of this area by purchasing 1"-3" size.

Please include some picture of what you chose to place around your frame pool.

Thank you!

I would get some of the push in landscape stuff to go just outside the pool wall. That will not allow anything get up against the pool wall and should keep anything from washing it out.

I like the idea of the river rock as well!
