How To Get Sparkling Water?

Relatively new pool owner. I have a TF-100 test kit and am using the BBB pool maintenance method, with great results so far.

So far this season, my water has held relatively steady at pH of 7.2 - 7.5 (according to the K-1000 tester that comes with the TF-100), and CYA of 40-50. I have a vinyl liner, so I haven't tested for CH yet. So far this season, all I've had to do is add bleach to manage FC.

My water is clear. You can easily see straight to the bottom in the deep end, etc. But...it doesn't "sparkle" like I've seen some pools do. Any tips for achieving that "sparkle?"

Also, for what it's worth:

- I'm using a sand filter. Plan to add a bit of DE (but haven't yet), as some folks on this forum suggest.
- My TA measurements are weirdly high using the TF-100 test kit. I test TA weekly and have had the following readings, in date order: 100, 140, 270, 220. Oddly (I guess), pH has been holding steady at ~7.5 despite high TA.

Thanks!

Your TA reagent R-009 may have static buildup on the tip that messes with the results. Next time you test, wipe the tip off with a damp paper towel every few drops.

The sparkle comes when the FC/CYA ratio is right, the pH is right, and you've brushed up and filtered out all the microdebris. The DE might help with that last part.
