I would recommend getting a sand and silt bag for your Polaris. It will capture the finer debris that is accumulating in your pool. It doesn't sound like you are losing too much chlorine every day.

If you are passing the OCLT you may just have a mixture of dead algae and sand that is too fine to be captured by the Polaris bag. Its sounds like you are passing the criteria to end the slam and vacuuming out the debris is the last step. A bag designed to catch silt or a manual vacuum will clean up the debris.
