Hello to all,

Have a friend that has a Pentair 3HP Intelliflo (see pic) and wants to be able to upgrade pool
Equipment to have remote phone access.

He has Comcast/Xfinity WiFi, latest Apple phone, but zero automation. Has a SWG, Pentair 3HP VSP.

His goal is to be able to operate VSP while on the road. Is there a simple module you can add or do you have to go full automation?

Pls let me know if you have any questions?

Thank you,
tstex

TS,

One option would be to replace the pump with a new IntelliFlo3 VSF.. It can be controlled by an app.. And.. if he gets the pump with an option an relay card, it can turn the cell on and off..

But, my question is why does he feel he needs to control the pump when on the road... On the surface, it makes no sense at all.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Pentair Intelliconnect will be less expensive than a new pump.

The picture is just the motor. Need pump model number to confirm compatibility.

This is why I never turn my pump off. Just saying. I *never* have to turn it on.

I am skimmed, filtered and topped off with FC around the clock.

Jim & all,

Houston had a 22 & 26 in February. I have freeze protection. He obviously does not, so wanted to be able to turn on pump to keep water moving when it dips below 28 for an extended period. I guess running it at 1200-1400RPM's 24x7 would solve that.

Thank you for pointing out another reason I should run 24/7. Freezing wasn't even on my radar, but what if ? 😁

Update, he's also wanted to control the fountain & lights in the evening when having guests. I informed him if he wants to do that too, he's going to require investing in a whole automation system, correct?

If correct, to retrofit a Pentair install, that's prob 3-5K plus a fair amt of electrical wk, yes? W automation, he can add the ph App too.

Does the Pentair automation come in 4-8-16 modules like the Hayward, or some variation thereof?

Thanks again

And new dude, your posts are almost up to your gal size pool; if you were Jim R, you'd already be there / :)

Look at this option. IntelliConnect has two additional relays for external devices. As long as he's not controlling valve actuators, this may be a good low-cost alternative.
