I have a pool renovation underway. I have a brand new cartridge filter and Pentair Intelliflo3 VSF pump.
It is configured to use the timer on the pump. Ther is no automation controller.
After reading on this forum, I am considering having the installer add an IC60 rather than using all liquid chlorine.

Can the intellichlor be left powered on and the flow sensor control when it runs or will I need to factor in an automation controller in addition to the IC60 and labor costs?

It would be wise to add the relay board to the Intelliflo 3 so you can control the SWCG from your Pentair app. Relying just on a flow switch is not a good practice, the cell can explode.

No. The Intellichlor manual says the system must not be powered when the pump is off.

Get the optional IO Board for the Intelliflo3 and connect the IntelliChlor Power Center through the 5A relay. You then set in the Pentair HOME app for the relay to be on when the pump is on.

Ordered the IC60 today. I'll let the PB worry about the wiring details. Thanks for letting me know there was a method that didn't involve purchasing a whole automation controller.

Relay board installed in the pump and IC60 installed today.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction about that relay board.
PB sales and scheduling people (3 of them in the email thread) had no clue it was a thing.
PB installer knew exactly what was up, and I knew because of this forum.
So I guess 4 people learned something this week.
Thanks again!
