Hi again! I’m treating my 27’ ABG pool’s initial fill from a well. The PH is 6 so the pool store is having me add 9lbs of soda ash. It then recommends shocking. How do I figure out how much bleach I need? I’m new to all this and want to make sure I’m doing things right. When I add the bleach where do I add it? TIA!!

First thing you should do is order one of the recommended test kits, either the TF-100 or the K2006-C. You can't trust pool store tests or test strips. Then read Pool School on this site. When you get your kit, post the results here. In the mean time, only add liquid chlorine to the pool. Don't use laundry bleach. Use Pool Math to figure out how much will add 5 ppm to your pool every day.

As Jeff said definitely get a good test kit Test Kits Compared the tf100 is the best value & has great easy to read/follow instructions.
Until it arrives add 5ppm liquid chlorine evey day. It’s hard to find plain household bleach w/o enhancers these days. So look for “chlorinating liquid” “liquid shock “etc.
In the pool section of hardware & Walmart stores. Your pool store may have this as well.
PoolMath will help with calculations you’ll need to input your pool v- the app has a slider for slam level.
Slowly Pour liquid chlorine infront of the jet & brush the area to mix it in
Here’s some reading & info about adding chems

Yes, I have the Taylor 2006 and ph test turned bright yellow. I came into the forum and asked about that yesterday but didn’t receive much response. I went to the pool store to get an actual number for the ph since it was so acidic.
