How many critters do you encounter every year?

Our pool was only open a couple months at the end of last season and we had no wildlife visit our pool. So far this year we've had ducks and a turtle we relocated to a lake and some opossums who weren't so lucky.

Is this only a spring time occurance? Does it continue through the summer? We didn't realize we were opening a wildlife refuge.

I have a resident garter snake who likes to cool off along the edge of the pool and then warm up on the slate pool edging. We have come to an understanding and tolerate each other. I need to give him a name. Suggestions?

My wife would have a heart attach even though it's just a garter snake.

Cats, ducks, racoons, possums, squirrels, and who knows what else like to drink/swim here. Never been an issue. Fun to watch the baby ducks (Frog Log works for them, too). Squirrels, racoons, cats will walk on the dam wall from pool to spa to get a drink as the water is very close there. They also seem to like the salty water for the SWG.
On really hot days, even the racoons will swim in the middle of the day. I'm in the middle of a very residential area, but have lots (too many) of trees for them to live. We trapped and relocated until we found out that was not legal here. Now we just live with them (and add more chlorine as needed).

We get lots of birds at our water feature/water fall, in the summer. We ocassionally see snakes but like once a year or so, can be rattlers but more often its a coach whip. My wife had a coach whip swim right across the pool once and scared her hugely.

Biggest pest is the large Sonoran Desert Toads that emerge from underground after the heavy monsoon rains in late Aug/Sept most years. These have a nerve agent on their skin and if a dog grabs one or bites one it can be fatal, so I keep my eyes peeled for these.

Some years ago I was on my own here for a couple years (our Italian Greyhounds were with my wife who was working out of state) and I let the toads hang around, they'd sometimes swim around with me, quite fun to see them but best avoided if you have dogs really.

The odd suicide lizard and often mice that fall in just drown too, I was going to get one of these, perhaps I should:

Have removed some live and dead frogs from skimmers. One each young rabbit and bird. This is over 4 years.

The main critter I see is hundreds of earthworms on the floor after every soaking rain. Not hard to net, and the Polaris gets them, too, but it's both sad and gross.
