I am so excited! FINALLY my CYA is down! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Here were my results:
FC - 4
pH - 7.6
TA - 110
CH - 220
CYA - 80!!!!!

QUESTION: My SWG is running at 40%. Do I need to bump it up to take care of FC or add bleach? See any other issues???? I am adding muriatic acid about ever 36 hours.

WTG! :)
Minimum FC is 4 for your 80 CYA. Sooo...depends on when you tested compared to time of day and SWG running. If SWG done for the day and have lots of daylight left, you will be exposed due to FC being below 4. If that makes sense?
Personally, I would probably bump FC up a point or two.

It may take some time to get swg set the way you want. Even when you have it set, you may need to add liquid CL for pool party, uncovered hot sunny day etc.

An expert will probably chime in who knows more about your SWG and settings. But looks like need consistently more probably.

If you are adding MA for the TA, I wouldn't get carried away. As long as your PH is below 8, you are good. TA will go down over time as you lower the ever rising PH back down to 7.2 or 7.4.

Mel,

Good job on getting your CYA down...

Your FC is 4 and that is the very minimum you want to have.. You should be around 6 ppm.. See the saltwater section of this chart... FC/CYA Levels

You should try to keep your FC between 5 and 7... and try never let it get to 4..

You should let your pH run at 7.8... it is where most SWCG pools like to be and you will use less MA.. 7.8 is perfectly fine.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Remember to follow the FC/CYA guide --> FC/CYA Levels

Bring your FC up to desired levels with liquid chlorine, then let the SWG *maintain* that level. Depending on the size of your cell, you may find tweaking the pump run hours or the percentage easier.

Please add your SWG info to your signature line :)

Mel,,

In theory, your cell will add 8 ppm of FC to your pool per day.. if the cell is running at 100% and 24/7.. that is .333 ppm of FC per hour.

Based upon that info, you are not running your cell anywhere near hard enough or long enough to make the amount of chlorine you need.

Most pools use 2 to 4 ppm of FC per day.

I suggest you turn your cell up to 100% and run the pump for 10 hours and see what happens to your FC.. If the FC starts going up, then you can reduce the output % or the run time.. It is much better to start high and bring it down.. If you start your FC too low, it is very hard to try and bring it up.

Thanks,

Jim R.
