How do i block my return to remove my SWG

Need to clean the salt cell. There's no shutoff valve under the return, before the salt cell - so - what do people usually do in this case? Thanks!

Use a closing plug in the return and the skimmer. Are you sure it needs cleaning? Cleaning will shorten it’s life. If you are adding a lot of calcium hardener that will cause scale build up. A vinyl pool rarely requires calcium.
