Houston Build - Progress!

In the “pool finish and color viewing room TFP member soundoff” thread (or better known as the PFCVRTFPMSO) there are three Stonescapes colors - aqua cool, tropics blue, and french gray)

I went Tropics Blue. French gray was my back up and I really like it if lighter blue is ok, shallow depths look great.

Aqua Blue is a bit closer to tropics blue, not sure what the Puerto Rico blend does to it.

CC, I thought I HAD commented on them!! Well I if I did it was in my head only LOL so here ya go:

LOVE it all!! SO pretty!
-6" tiles-dig through the boxes for the really pretty ones to put in the "eye fall" spots. THEN find the ugly ones and hide them so they will not get used
-small tiles-what color of grout will make a huge difference. White will make each tile stand out, gray will help them blend into each other. Both are pretty so............get your hands on some grout color sticks and see which one you like the best.

Ugh. I didn't even think about the grout... I'm guessing we will go white if we end up w/ the Aqua Cool. It would blend pretty easily (IMO)... Gonna get some grout samples from the builder.

It will blend with the plaster BUT not the tile. Like I said though..............both look good! I am glad I brought that up so you can make an informed decision. They should have grout sticks that really show the colors well and is much easier to use than mixing up different colors.

Keep in mind with grout colors that it will dry lighter. I strongly advise you to add an enhancer to the grout. We picked a beautiful dark gray grout color but once it dried it was way too light.

We did 1.5 bags of puerto rico blue blend and 1.5 bags of dark blue cobalt glass in our aqua blue. I do not think you would be wrong doing anything with a puerto rico blend. The aqua cool is a very light color, aqua white will have a dye'd plaster which would make it a bit darker.

So rain delayed us until Monday. Guys were out there super early, dug and rebar'd pool. I was able to keep an eye on the progress throughout the day and ensured measurements were on. Tuesday morning, plumbers arrived and gunite crew. We now have a concrete hole!

Yea, I got a couple inches of rain. Dig pushed to next week.

I did go pickup a couple of the Ultimate Ear MegaBlasts (Ultimate Ears MEGABLAST Portable Wireless Speaker with Amazon Alexa ) for our pool audio. We wanted Alexa enabled speakers and wanted to not have to blast the entire backyard so giving these a shot.
Oh - the MegaBlasts speakers worked awesome over Easter. Had them outside for 12 hours playing nonstop via wifi -> Pandora. No phone connection needed.

Oooooh. I may have to look into those. Pools looking good! :goodjob:

So, progress is being made. I wish it was faster but rain and crew availability has slowed us down a few weeks. Tile, coping, plumbing, most of the electrical done. Covered patio being built as I type this. Once the patio is done, my builder will schedule the plaster crew (stonescape aqua blue minipebble puerto rico w/ extra glass). Forgive the ladder, I didn't have an updated picture of the pool and needed to capture one off the camera. Decent amount of work yet to do. OH - I need to know what to order from TFP (water test kit, etc.).

Thanks!

Go the the link in my siggy below. MUST have is the TF-100 test kit. Need to have is the whale brush. Your shoulders and back will thank me. Want to have is the Speed Stir. I did not have one for the longest time and now wonder how I went without it! If you are going to have a SWG you need a salt test kit.
